I’m using Cakewalk Music Creator and have had a little trouble recording. When recording a track, the program records the instrument just fine but also records all other sounds played, including the previously recorded tracks I’m playing against. It even picks up the “click” sound effect that windows plays when you click on a menu! I’ve no idea how to get it to record only what’s being input through the microphone jack, not the stuff that’s playing in the background.
Any advice would me immensely welcome! Thanks in advance!
you should be able to select what to record by turning on and off inputs through your volume control panel.
Turn off everything except the microphone.
If it still does not seem to turn everything off click options (on volume control window) select properties and click the “recording” button. Then turn off or on the inputs you want on the screen that appears (pretty much the same volume control screen but now the inputs refer to recording settings only. It is here in fact that you would enable a microphone for for instance voice commands or other uses where you do not want the sounds picked up by the mic to play through the speakers.
First of all, obvious is that you need to be wearing sealed studio-type headphones to do this–are you?
Secondly, your soundcard needs to be able to do duplex recording (recoding one sound from an input while playing something else on an output)–what sound card are you using?
