Calculating how much of my life I've spent on the SDMB.

Disclaimer: I suck at math more than anyone has ever sucked at math before. I am using both the calculator on my computer and a pen and paper to do this. Please forgive any stupid mistakes I make.

I usually spend roughly 1 hour on the SDMB every single day, no matter what else is going on. On weekends and holidays, and actually during most of college, that number jumps to 3-4. I’d say about once every week, it jumps up to 6-7.

I registered in July 2001, and for the sake of easiness, let’s just say I registered in the middle of the month. I’ve been registered for 11 months.

I’ll subtract 2 weeks from the whole for days I was out of town or otherwise unable to reach the internet. Subtract 1 month for the Great Crash.

I was in school from mid-August to the beginning of May. and… I just lost track of the math. Hold on. Not counting breaks, we’re talking about 7 months in school. Roughly 210 days. I’d say maybe 50 of those days were one-hour days, 120 were 3-hour days, and 40 were 6-hour days. This is a conservative estimate.

As for vacation, I have been home and SDMB-ready for 3 months, roughly 90 days. I’d estimate that 10 of those days were 1-hour days, 30 were 3-hour days, and 50 were 6-hour days. (Don’t ask questions, the left side of my brain hasn’t functioned this well in YEARS!)

1050 hours total. That actually seems a little light. Now for the fun part.

1050 hours = 43.75 days, 6.25 weeks, 1.5625 months, 0.130208 years (rounded off)

Given that I am 19.3 years old, I have spent 0.67% of my life on the SDMB. Huh. I thought it would be higher.

I try not to contemplate scary numbers like how much time I spend on the board or how much money I’ve spent on books and CDs.

“Hmm, let’s say an average of $10 per CD for simplicity’s sake, times, lessee, 100, 120, 140…”
