This is my 5601st post. Most posts I have written took only one or two minutes to compose, as should be evident from the stupidity, irrelevance, and rampant errors of spelling, grammar, and punctuation~. However, some posts involved some research and careful planning, and I can remember a few that took an hour or more to compose. Many more, 10-15 minutes. I will assume, without any sort of evidence or logic, that the average post took me 5 minutes to write. This adds up to a staggering 466.75 hours, or about nineteen and a half DAYS of writing SDMB posts.
But we must also add on a considerable amount of time waiting for the hamsters AND reading posts. I think it not unreasonable to add on another 4-5 days for hamsters, and 3x writing time for reading. That adds up to - great googly moogly - in the order of 2100 hours of SDMB time. 87.5 days - or, if you prefer, 262.5 working days.
Holy schmoly!
Now, I don’t precisely remember when I registered but I think it was in like 1999, so all in all that isn’t THAT bad. About 500 hours a year, or 1.5 hours a day. Oh. Maybe it is.
How long do you think YOU have been online on the SDMB … in total, and as a daily average? Don’t assume my estimates are right… maybe I’m wrong.
I just quickly, and roughly, calculated 11,466 hours spent here. Sometime in the very recent past, though, I roughly calculated that I’d posted once for every two hours spent here. So, for now, let’s just say somewhere between 11,000 hours and 18,000 hours.
Considering that I am ‘on’ it for most of a work shift - about 3000 hours.
If you take out time spent in other places while waiting for the SDMB to do things, and time spent doing actual work at work - probably about 2000 hours.
A daily average is 6 hours.
Holy sod! - 7.88 posts a day! Not so long ago it was about 3.2!
And while looking for my info I discovered that I have 3 complete strangers on my buddy list And I never add people to buddy list.
Jeez I have no idea. I’ve been on the board for…about 7 years? When it was on AOL I used to keep it open all day and just reload it every 30 minutes or so to see what was new…
Love it love it love it. I can’t get enough FZ references.
I started posting in late July. I took 3 weeks off to immerse in Madden 2004, which is good, because - and I hate to admit this - every day in August I was carefully trying to limit my SDMB time to 6 hours a day (and failing) because my ISP sends complaint letters if I go over 200 hours per month. (I know, I know, living in a cave with my dialup.)
I’d say, in the less-than-a-month I’ve been active on SDMB, I’ve been logged on for…150 hours.
Estimated average, an hour to an hour and a half per day. (Weekdays, sometimes less, usually quite a bit more. Weekends, usually a lot less. Also I took a break for a few months at the end of 1999 that skews the average down.)
Not too many. I’d post more, but I have little patience for the hampsters. I often try to open a post, get bored watching the little green line move across the bottom of my screen, and go read another site in another browser. By the time I remember I was here, it’s often a few hours later, and what I wanted to say has already been said by someone else. Either that or I’m not even at the computer anymore. I’ve read the front page here for years, but the forums timed out the first couple of times I tried to open them, so I never bothered. Unfortunately, I tried agian on a whim, and discovered that this place is very cool, and am compelled to watch the green bar more often than not. I read far more than I post, probably a 50-1 one ratio at least.
If you just round to an hour per day that puts me at roughly 106 days. However there have been times when I’ve spent hours each day, and times when I’ve gone a few months without coming here at all.
