In my household, we have a MacBook Pro and two Windows Vista laptops. We would like to find a calendar that will allow all of us to see a common calendar AND sync it to our local machines for times when an Internet connection isn’t available.
Outlook was just released for the Mac as part of the new Office suite. There are a variety of ways to sync Outlook between computers.
But probably the cheapest and easiest way would be to use Google calendar, which is always online and always in sync. It’s not quite as polished as iCal or Outlook but it works great.
That’s good news. My dad is starting to think about getting a smart phone. Which means he’ll have one sometimes between now and two years from now. One of his concerns is his Calender. Right now he uses AOL for his calender since he can easily access it at home and work. He asked me to put Outlook on his computer so he could play with it for a while. My understanding would be that he could sync it from home to work using a smartphone. But $140 seemed a bit steep. My next suggestion to him was to try out the Google Calender. It seems to meet all his needs, I’m glad to hear it works.
