Grabbed it and played for a bit last night. The facial animation is pretty amazing stuff. Thing looks great on PS4. I like the grenades that highlight all the enemies in red. I don’t understand the smart grenades and what they do. I do suck badly at this game. The color palette is a lot more pleasing than on Ghosts.
Do you find it worth your money?
Maybe? It’s impossible to say. A multiplayer game’s worth is based entirely on how much total entertainment you get out of it. Right now it’s looking like we’ll be settling into this being our go-to game for a while. If I get a few months of consistent play out of it, then it was definitely worth it.
If my friends weren’t also playing it, I wouldn’t have bought it at all. But that holds true for ALL multiplayer games. I don’t play them on my own.
They’re similar to small laser-guided rockets. Throw it in the air, then point your reticle where you want it to go and it’ll try to fly there.
FWIW, I’m having terrible connection problems with the game. Something like a 50% chance of getting through a round of play the last couple of nights. Otherwise, I get a random disconnect. Fun. Think I’ll hold off a while.
Thanks. I made my earlier post before I got to the training area where they explained that. Pretty cool. Still really like the grenades that light up the enemies best.
Really? Interesting. The console style P2P made the games utterly unplayable (especially how they strictly split up people into matchmaking groups based on the DLC they own).
I’d be amazed if they gave it enough thought (and admitted how fucking awful it is) to put in proper multiplayer.
I doubt I’d buy it though - the COD games are too expensive and don’t ever get very cheap, and when they even hit a still pretty expensive price like $20 they’re a year old and out of date. I’ve owned a few of the CoD games but they all came with video card bundles or a friend I had who worked at activision.
I have to imagine they’re feeling the slumping sales. People will say “oh they don’t care about PC, it’s only 20% of the sales” or whatever, but 20% of the sales is literally tens of millions of dollars. You can’t tell me it’s not worth a little extra time to make a good game on PCs to collect that extra tens of millions.
The numbers of people playing Advance Warfare are only about 1/5th the number who played MW2 around release, which in turn was some significant decline from MW. I’m kind of amazed that PC players played any of the last few games at all, but it’s clear they’re seeing what a shit sandwich they’re being fed and going away.
Literally just finished it (on PS4), thought i’d look on the dope if there was a thread about it.
It’s pretty fun. I just played the single player, my twitch reflexes these days are far to slow to prevent me being slaughtered in multi-player.
It’s a COD game. It has the usual slightly annoying ‘follow me’ everywhere, and it’s pretty linear, but the shootings solid. Playing with some of the future weapons are fun. I loved the homing grenade. I rarely used the suit special abilities, forgot them mostly. You probably only really need to leverage those powers for the highter difficulty levels. There’s a few vehicle sections, including one short ludricous section where you randomly are flying a fighter.
It’s basically a COD game with a few wrinkles. If you liked earlier iterations you’ll probably like this one.
As usual it’s quite short, i played over 5-6 days in short bursts. I’ve heard 6 hours quoted, sounds about right. So if you want bang for your buck you might want to leave it a while. I don’t regret purchasing it however.
I am going to trade it in for half it’s value tommorrow, but i’ve been doing that with everything. I decided to be completely ruthless with this console generation as i rarely have the time to replay anything anyway. I literally only own a game while i’m playing it.
