I might regret bringing this up, since I haven’t seen the final product, but KPI Productions looked around for an “expert” on Medusa to interview for their upcoming series Clash of the Gods, and stumbled across my book. They called me up and asked if I’d agree to be interviewed on camera, and of course I said “yes”. So they flew me down to Manhattan for a marathon session of interviewing , fed me a cheeseburger, and gave me cabfare back. Ever since then, presumably, they’ve been filming in Europe and generating CGI scenes for the series.
Now, finally, it’s ready to air. It’ll run on The History Channel Monday nights at 10 PM, and will probably get repeated. Here’s the poster:
Here’s the schedule:
My show, Medusa, is set to run September 7 at 10 PM on the History Channel. I await it with conmingled excitement and fear. I haven’t seen a frame of it, but hopefully the CGI gorgons look good. Hopefully I don’t look too bad.
Maybe I can get them to do me in CGI, too.
{The original title was to ne Titans. They changed it to Clash of the Gods. I think I know which movie they’ve been watching)
Here are the only other pics I’ve been able to find:
Most excellent! You don’t happen to know if this will available for download on Hulu or the History Channel website or anything, do you? I don’t have cable.
Nope – they insisted on black-on-black. So I went out and bought a trendy new dress shirt. I thought if I wore a tie with that, I’d look like a geek. (Whether I am or not, it’s important not to look like one)
Then they had me stand in the center of the studio (no sitting). The camera couldn’t get far enough back to ocus, so they shot me from the next room, through the doorway. There were black sheets everywhere and black tape, and a lot of people sticking lights and microphones through the doorway, trying desperately to stay out of camera range, and someone teetering on tiptoe through this assemblage lobbing questions at me (sometimes over and over), encouraging me to answer spontaneously. It was a hoot.
So… you’re saying that Cal is being ‘cast’ as the, er, ‘bad guy’? Or the ‘this-guy-is-wrong-don’t-listen-to-him guy’? The latter seems more likely, given what I’ve observed on various ‘educational’ channels, but really, I’m not quite sure what you’re saying here.
