CalMeacham Interviewed on the History Channel

Thank you for alerting us to this. I have a reminder to set my DVR for August 31st…

…and congrats on achieving Mass-Media Expert-Hood* - from a Doper POV, it doesn’t get much better…
*although “MMEH” just doesn’t have the connotation I wish it did

Wait, I thought you were already in all-black?! and the new shirt was an Oxford shirt? Aren’t those usually blue?

Just one more week.
The History Channel has the first two showings listed on its page.
I am simultaneously excited and terrified.

thanks for bumping this. I knew it was coming up but forgot exactly when.

Just realized that I didn’t post the link:

Does your segment address if Medusa will have nipples in the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans?

Nipples are important.

I didn’t know the Ancient World had Transformers fans!

I’ve been recording this, but only watched Hercules all the way through. I found the actor for Herc rather odd - are the Greeks known for being blue-eyed?

Zyada and I just watched the Hades episode, and were pretty much impressed. They seemed to have real historians talking about the subject, and didn’t ask “Could it have been . . . SPACE ALIENS?!?!?” as some of the “educational” channels seem to do.

I didn’t much like their endless repetition of the same few video clips, and Zyada pointed out that Hades’ contacts were showing in a few close-ups, but no big deal.

We’ll certainly be checking back to see you , Cal!

Here’s the first picture I’ve seen of Medusa:

Please note: I’m not advertising the DVD or anything (I wouldn’t get a cent out of it, anyway) – it’s just that this is the only page I’ve found that has the picture.

Maybe I missed this, but how will we know which expert you are?

You don’t look like Rex Reason, do you?

Are you crazy posting that picture here!?? Won’t I turn to stone if I look at it?

It’s only a picture, not the real thing. Perseus protected himself by looking at her reflection in his shield.
Nowadays he’d use his camera-phone.

Whew! That’s why you’re the expert who was interviewed and I’m not

[Graham Chapman King Arthur] Well, you have to know these things when you’re a king, you know. [/Graham Chapman King Arthur]

I got the impression that they used the same funky contact lenses for Hercules as for Zeus and the other Olympians - they’re an almost-subtle way of distinguishing Gods from mortals.

I’ve seen Zeus, Hercules, and Hades so far, they’re not bad. Thanks for the confirmation that the producers deliberately made all of the experts wear black, I thought I was going a little crazy seeing them all in the same clothes…

And post it on Facebook for everyone else at Parnassus High School to make fun of. “LOL OMG look at her hair!”

Looking forward to the show, Cal. Make our little town proud. BTW, did you tell the Advertiser?

Just over 24 hours.

Just so you know, in the re-telling of this, you and I will have gone way back, and in fact, we’ve been best friends since I saved your life back in '89.

This is probably why I’m never asked to be an expert on anything, isn’t it?

Wait.

When is it on? I don’t see medusa listed on History channel tomorrow.

Cal, do you have a photo of yourself we can see so we know when it is you?
