Okay, I want to share. My school has a Christmas Dinner/Dance, and sign-ups for tables is on the 11th. Your table placement is VERY important, because it determines which verse of the 12 days of Christmas you get to sing – and you want to be the 5 Golden Rings. So as of 10:30 this morning we’ve had a tent up outside of Ellis (the student union), along with oh, 20 or so other tents. We’ve got the 11th and 12th spots in line, at least as of last roll call. Not quite good enough for golden rings, but good enough for 4 calling birds or 6 geese a-laying :). You’ve got to have someone from every table there from 6pm to 7am and noon-1, or you get bumped to the end of the line. I’ve got the midnight to 7am shift, along with a guy friend, though I was out there from 6-9 this evening, as well. Huzzah for sleeping in the cold like idiots for tickets to a formal dinner!
And we’ve decorated our tent. We are the only tent on campus with hideous, kitchy Christmas decorations–red and white blended tinsel, a “santa stop here” sign (octagonal!), inflatable candy canes and Christmas tree balls, a big plastic door cover that has a horribly drawn Santa and Mrs. Claus under the mistle toe, 3 foot plastic candy canes driven into the ground outside the tent, and a sparkly pointsetta and a sparkly reindeer on spikes (next to the candy canes, of course!
