A little respect goes a long way. Treating other nations as equals and not as part of an axis of evil makes a lot of difference in what results you get. If the Iranians are true to their word and dismantle their nuclear weapons program, then let the sanctions end and diplomatic relations resume. It’s a whole lot more cost effective than Chimpy’s “talk brashly and swing a big stick” doctrine.
Lotta “could be” and “potential” there, to be making any definitive statements. If what this thread is supposed to be about is pre-emptively bashing Republicans over objecting to a deal with Iran, I think I’ll wait for an actual deal and actual Republican objections, before jumping in.

In general I think talking is better than not talking, and talking constructively is better still. Bush including Iran in the whole “Axis of Evil” thing ended up hurting the moderates in Iran and giving ammunition to Ahmedinejad and his cohort, and I would hope that we have learned from that mistake.
That said, I too will wait for specific details of the current talks and any deal that comes out of them before deciding who to praise and who to excoriate.
I can’t even tell what exactly this thread is trying to pit, but I’m pretty sure if I ever figure out how to parse the OP, I’ll think its stupid.

Pretty musc my opinion. I have no objection to the idea of diplomacy. I’ll wait and see what the result of the diplomacy turns out to be.
