can anyone give me directions to cemetery in Idaho City, Idaho?

Ive driven through Idaho City before, and was just recently informed of a really cool, old cemetery that exists there and would like to take a little daytrip to go and check it out with a friend…is it easily found via signs and markers, or is it obscured? At any rate, can anyone give me some directions to it, say, from the main drag through town? I’d appreciate it…

According to my Borland Street Maps USA, take State Highway 21, the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Highway, northeast from Interstate 84. Turn left on Montgomery Street, proceed north four blocks to Wall Street. Turn left and proceed west two blocks, crossing a bridge. A road not named on the map cuts off to the right. Following this as it winds (there is a four-way crossroad and another road cutting off to the left) for what appears to be in excess of a half mile will bring you to the cemetery, which will be on your right. That road appears to dead end a quarter mile beyond the cemetery. (Note: I have never been to Idaho, much less Idaho City or its cemetery; that information is purely from mapwork.)

If you go to MapQuest and search for Idaho City, ID, and drill down, it appears the name of the road Polycarp reference is Cemetery Road.

That makes sense! Although my experience has always been that making an assumption of that sort is always touchy. I know of a small town where Main Street and Church Street parallel each other, but guess which one the only church in town is on? And I attended elementary school in Cooper Street School, on Davidson Street, while my grandfather was on the Session of Stone Street Presbyterian Church, located on Chestnut Street. And given the speed of my connection, I prefer referencing map CDs on my own machine to waiting impatiently for Mapquest to slo-o-o-o-o-owly paint the screen with the top third of a map graphic, replaced by a red X and a snide remark from MSIE about being unable to load that graphic.

Polycarp and JeffB, your replies are greatly appreciated…thank you for your help!

MapQuest?! BAH!

Guess you haven’t heard of Google Maps.

(p.s. try doing the “local search” too once you’ve got an area mapped)

I just received an email from Grace at the Boise Basin Museum, and she more or less confirms Poly’s directions:
