Check out this page first off, that is what I am trying to do. I need that effect, the floating baloons, to be on an eBay auction. It isn’t for me, but rather, a friend of mine asked me to try to figure it out for her. If you can help me figure this out, it would be GREATLY appriciated. Either reply here, or contact me on AIM using Downhome00 and we can hopefully get this thing figured out. Thanks in advance, to whoever decides to help me!
Try doing a ‘View—>Source’. Looks like the code is in there to me.
Though, speaking as a marketing guy, I wouldn’t do that on one of my auctions.
Well, that page tells you how to create the floating boons… Just follow the directions on screen.
I don’t know if you’ll be able to use it on ebay though, the Javascript needs to go in the HEAD section of the page, and most sites that allow you to set your own HTML will only allow you to play within the BODY section.
ebay frowns very heavily on javascripts in your auctions.
They are just as likely to shut your auction down early.
Speaking as an eBay customer, don’t do it. If I saw those balloons floating across the page, I’d press the back button before I even read any further. If I have any problems AT ALL reading the page, I won’t bid. I don’t like fancy backgrounds, and I especially hate musical pages. Don’t do any special effects. Just put up a GOOD picture of the item, and describe it in black text on a white background. Set out the terms of payment and shipping in clear language. Make sure that the pic doesn’t have a lot of glare in it, and a couple of different views are greatly appreciated.
Ditto what Lynn says - don’t do it. That kind of stuff crashes some computers, and I personally back out of pages like that pronto. I wouldn’t bid (I wouldn’t even take the time to look) at an auction that has stuff like that going on - it screams “Newbie!”.
I didn’t think it was possible because where would you put that JS file? Sure you can use the script, but you have to have that file on the site somewhere don’t you?
