A friend of mine posted it somewhere asking if anyone knew who it was. It’s not clear to me whether she knows already or is genuinely asking the question. Looks a little bit like Roger Ebert but that’s not it.

It looks a lot like Ebert, but the little moles and the slight cleft in the chin shouldn’t be there (unless he had them flawlessly removed).
A Tineye search doesn’t turn up anything. If it was a publicly available picture of Roger Ebert, it should have had a hit, I would think.

No? The OP’s photo seems to be from the 70s, when a lot of us with curly hair made it a little curlier than normal.

Hmmm… well, I guessed Roger Ebert before I posted and she responded in the negative. But there seems to be a consensus forming here so if I get a few more responses I’ll press her to elaborate.
Though I should add that the one who posted this is Russian, in case it makes a difference in the possible pool of people she could be drawing from.

She just responded that apparently it’s Huub Bals who I’d never heard of before, but who also shares a passionate love of film.
From a quick google search this is the only other image I could find of him.
That’s straight hair that has gotten long during the pre-hair product era. That would never turn into the actual curly hair that the dude in the OP has.
