Can I Alphabetize "Favorites"?

On the PC, when you store “favorites” or “bookmarks”, there does not appear to be any manner by which to alphabetize them. You’d think this would be an automatic function and/or semi-automatic, but oh noooooo-siree-bob!

Is there a way to do this, or trick it into doing this?

If you hold your left cursor down on the Favorites entry you want at the top, and drag it up, it will stay. It’s a manual operation, but it works.

In IE, right click any favorite and choose “Sort By Name”.

Hey, you don’t even have to hold any key! Thanks to you, I found that you can drag and drop a bookmark anywhere you like…just don’t double-click, and you’ll be fine!

Cool!

If you Export your favorites (File -> Import and Export) then Import them back from the file, they get loaded in alphabetical order. At least that seems to be what happened in my case.

Just go to the top of IE where you see File Edit View Favorites Tools Help.
Click on Favorites, then move your cursor to one of the items and right click on it. Then click on Sort By Name near the bottom of the menu. So simple… :smack:

Or you could open the Favorites folder, move the files somewhere else (perhaps backing them up along the way), then move them back to Favorites. This will unsort them. Kind of annoying when you try to move your favorites to a new computer, but it works if you haven’t spent a long time memorizing them in the order you added them.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned menusnap yet, which would be an ideal solution if the OP is running one of the supported versions of Windows.
