If I own my own land in the middle of bf nowhere.
Can I be buried so as was food for worms and such.
It seems way greener than burning.
And I want to be a part of a tree.
Not a weeping willow though.
As with most laws, it will depend on where you live. I’m in Texas, and this (small pdf) document has basic info about, and links to, relevant state laws governing family cemeteries.
As Toucanna noted, the laws vary from place to place. But this has always seemed an emminently practical thing to me. I suppose it was the writer/philosopher Edward Abbey who put the idea into my head…
and again;
Abbey put his money (or at least his earthly remains) where his mouth was. When he died in 1989 his friends buried him secretly & illegally, wrapped in an old sleeping bag under a rock pile somewhere in the Cabeza Prieta Wilderness.
There is http://www.memorialecosystems.com the U.S. that practices “green burials” in a formal & legal manner.
