There’s a huge difference between a protest about racial inequality and storming a government building in an attempt to overturn an election that you dislike the result of, while people are chanting to lynch one of the elected people.
Well, yeah, of course the events of January 6 overshadow the politically motivated unrest and violence of the two months that preceded it; it was being broadcast live for the world to see, after all.
That’s why I get so confused about modern conservatives. They seem to lack the critical thinking necessary to realize that attempting to overthrow the government is light years worse than protesting inequality in how the police treat Black Americans.
Also: protesting police brutality isn’t usually a political position.
And, before it’s suggested otherwise, I do not condone rioting, looting, arson, violence, or any other crime committed during the BLM protests. The perpetrators of those activities should be held for trial, and receive the appropriate punishment afforded under the law.
Likewise, I don’t condone people storming our government buildings for disruptive purposes, including trying to halt election certification or building a gallows and chanting about hanging Mike Pence.
I agree with both of these sentiments.
To them, there isn’t any difference and no amount of “logic” or “critical thinking” will ever make them change their minds. “Worse” is a judgment call and they have none.
I don’t think anyone Is buying into your donkey-show.
Skewed donkey-show, in the same vein as the three blind guys trying to describe an elephant.
I never meant to make good people, most of whom I consider friends, throw up behind the garage with the visual manifestation of Octocry’s Theology and Ideology. In a perfect Chicago World, you’d invite us both to a house party, throw us both into the basement, and turn up the stereo for a few hours. Any lumps I’d take, I’d wear proudly.
( But I’d also try to make more Chicago connections too. There’s someone whom I owe serious money in Chicago and I won’t be off the barbed meat-hook until he’s paid… In Cash…
no handling fees. Not even two dollars. )
Yeah, that’s not Orwellian at all, especially when the topic is “teaching children”.
THEY’RE BANNING ACTUAL WORDS.
Well sure, if you ignore all the right-wing violence over the summer which (unlike anything on the left) was actively encouraged by Republican politicians (up to and including the President) and the attempt to kidnap and “put on trial” a Democratic governor (which the President refused to condemn) and the attacks on Biden supporters and election officials (praised and encouraged by the right) and the fact that there is an increasing amount of evidence that the events of January 6 were actively and deliberately planned and supported by Republicans including quite a lot of current members of Congress…then you can arrive at your Preferred Narrative of how the left are the real threat to this country and the main instigators of partisan violence.
Look who decided to come out of hiding! Say, if you see your shadow, does that mean Trump gets another term?
You really need to stop reading Tucker Carlson’s lost twin brother.
Piers Morgan, that’s the guy I find so insightful. Thanks for sharing.
Little did I know. I thought his specialty was the British Royal family, with a special emphasis on the bad things Harry and Meghan do…
I was about to ask: Has Creepy Piers Morgan stopped stalking and sexually harassing Meghan yet…?
( If they hadn’t renounced yada-yada-yada, wouldn’t he have been drawn and quartered by now? )
The government shall not pass laws to abridge freedom of speech.
Is anyone other than Rupert Murdoch paying him?
It gets trickier when the government is also an employer, though. The government can’t pass a law making it illegal to promote Holocaust denial, but the public school can fire someone for teaching it to their history students.
