The Irene waters are cleared out of my basement and I think I have one more challenge to solve.
The pilots on my water heater and boiler both went out; I’m going to re-light the water heater tomorrow morning when there’s more natural light in the basement. My question is: can I put off dealing with the boiler until a utilities person can come out and light it? It doesn’t have an electric ignition and I can’t see the pilot light area.
I’ve turned its electric breaker, emergency switches, and knob to “off.” I’m in NJ and help for minor stuff is going to be slow in coming. Thanks.
