I have an old Kryptonite bike lock but no key. I also have a functioning bike lock with a key, so I’m happy to donate the old one to good will, but if there’s no value anyone can extract from it without the key, I’ll landfill it instead. So - which should I do?
The Kryptonite lock is a hunk of useless metal without the key. IIRC about 30 years ago you could have Kryptonite send you a new key if you had the registration code to the lock (on some paper at purchase) I think, but that may not be an option anymore.
There’s no way I managed to save any paperwork from time of purchase. Guess this just goes in the dumpster then?
it can be repurposed. it is a strong metal loop, mount it wit the U down and you have a strong hanging loop.
Any competent locksmith can make you a new key for it.
You might be able to open it with a Bic pen.
True, but the fee may be such that it’s not cost-effective.
I don’t know how old the OP’s lock is, but for several years now Kryptonite has been making locks with a flat key to rectify that problem.
