Erm - it kind of looks like a pin - can I just pull it out?
Can you take a picture?
A POWER STRIP???
like a regular 120 v (US) power strip? To power an oven? I don’t understand. My stove has it’s own 4 gauge (or so) 240V line running straight to the service main. It certainly isn’t part of the regular house wiring.
What plugs into the power strip?
It’s a gas stove/oven. The 120v just controls the electronics and oven light.
Why is that so surprising to people? Is it a regional thing? Or perhaps peculiar to older, modest houses?
Hey! You callin’ my stove cheap, buddy? Yeah, it is. It’s a cheap gas stove I wouldn’t trade for the poshest electric in the world - but that’s 'cause I hate electric stoves. I think the confusion is that neither the OP or I originally specified what sort of stove we had, we just both had the same clock beeping problem, but on two very different stoves requiring two different power cables and two different sorts of outlets.
Bottom line - if you have a gas stove/oven with an electric ignition and your clock goes wonky, you can give your stove an off switch via a power strip for $5. Not so for an electric only stove.
And I guess that’s just one more reason for me to keep loving gas stoves!
Most assuredly not, ma’am. I’ve yet to live in a house with any other kind of stove, so the consternation struck me as odd. I admit that I haven’t inspected the stoves belonging to friends/acquaintances very closely when I’ve visited them.
