I’m in Las Vegas (Pacific Time) and would like to watch this week’s live broadcasts of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at 8:30 PT, instead of waiting for the 11:30 broadcast from the local CBS affiliate.
Does anyone know of a way to do it?
As it happens, I get CBS All Access via my Roku, but it only gives me the feed from the local station.
It would be nice to be able to do the same for the live feed of Comedy Central’s *The Daily Show. *
Probably not possible, unless you can fool your Roku into thinking you’re on the East Coast (perhaps via a proxy server?). People used to watch the unedited network feed on the big ten-foot satellite dishes, but I don’t think that possible any longer. (Don’t they encrypt those feeds today?)
I suspect that the lack of ideas / replies here indicates that there are few, if any, legitimate ways to do this.
IIRC, specific direction on things like pirated streaming is prohibited by this board’s rules. That might help to explain why you haven’t gotten more suggestions.
By the way, there is nothing unique about this week’s live broadcasts of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; if it were possible to watch the East Coast feed of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert any other day of the year, it might be possible to watch the live shows this week.
I’ll see if I know anyone with a Slingbox. If not, I’ll PM you about the Facetime thing. (J/k!)
Yeah, I was afraid of that. If anyone wants to PM me some (ahem) alternate methods, I wouldn’t mind.
I know that, but at any other time, we don’t mind recording them and watching the next day, or days later. This week, we’d really like to see them live.
I get the NY CBS feed via DirectTV (I’m grandfathered in, you can’t get it anymore). Came in very handy back when Craig F’s show was on. But I’m about a 4 hour drive from Vegas so I doubt if you can really “swing by”
I have Dish, and all the network stuff comes from the stations at the normal time. I can watch the 11 pm Daily Show at 8 pm though, which is a great benefit to my sleep.
Yeah, all the TBS/TNT/USA/etc type stations are 3 hours early on the west coast. I only get the Network east coast feeds due to an old program DTV had that I was grandfathered into. If I ever update my programming I’ll lose them.
