I’ve been invited to Saturday afternoon mass at 5 this Saturday. However, I also have to work that day until 4:30. Would I look out of place at a Saturday Mass during Advent in nice jeans?
I haven’t been to a Saturday Mass in a long time. When I was younger, I went in jeans and shorts.
I’m thinking of wearing a black sweater, nice jeans, and black shoes.
I could dress nicer, but I’d be very uncomfortable at work. I don’t think I’ll have time to change.
Jeans would be fine in any Catholic church I’ve attended. Unless, of course, you’ve been invited for a very specific reason, such as a baptism taking place during the mass. If that’s the case, you may like to “dress up” a bit.
You can where anything you want, there’s no dress code…at least as far as the Church is concerned. You might get the stink eye from someone in the pews, though (some people are uptight about what other people wear to mass).
Depends on the church. In Spain you see jeans in Mass any day of the week; when I went to Ireland we would get dirty looks from all those overdressed people in the church (they wore everything in the same color - and hats! other than the british isles, movies and fancy weddings in Hola I’ve never seen anybody wear a pamela).
Most places have a code along the lines of “please don’t come here in a thong bikini”, but the priests in my parish usually say Mass in jeans You can see them under their capes.
Not only do I go in jeans, but I go in ratty jeans that have pockets torn ever-so slightly at the corners. I usually wear longer shirts that I don’t tuck in either. Someday I may work up the nerve to go in sweatpants.
I go to Mass in jeans. Not shorts, even in the summer, but jeans should be okay. I figure that I’m not going there to impress anyone, and what I wear is between me and God. And I think God probably sees me nekkid anyway. Divine X-Ray vision, don’t you know.
