I’m knocking on wood big time (insert your own joke here). I just logged back on (at 1:45 CDT) and things are movin’ again! Wow, feels great! Now please don’t ruin my day by telling me the board is only fast because everyone else is still logged off after the maintenance…
No, Jerry the Tech Guy did some tweaking and the situation is improved. In terms of thruput, we’re back to where we were before the update was applied.
It’s also not all us; I note re the latest Internet Traffic Report that the figures for North America really suck . . . and one of the Chicago routers is out entirely. We have no control over what happens beyond the Chicago Reader server.
Here’s hoping for better – and faster – times ahead.

I sent this to Jerry via e-mail earlier, but I’m so damn happy, I’m gonna post here too.
Whatever changes were made earlier while the board was down are fantastic. The software is absolutely blazing. I’m consistently getting page loads of less than one second. This is superb.
