Can Obama win in November? And one or two other issues...

Well, yes, and I tend to agree with him:

None of that discussion is related to Obama winning in November. Which is the subject matter here.

There is some discussion in this thread about how he’ll do it anyway, no matter the existing data suggesting otherwise - but that’s hope more than reason.

May I ask if you will you be voting for McCain? No animosity either way.

Tell me why you would think so.

I don’t. I’m just asking. It seems from my experience Clinton fans have a choice, vote democratic, vote McCain, or don’t vote. I don’t see you as a non-voter.
In my family, there are a few Clinton fans who are considering voting McCain - what keeps them from doing so by in large is their dislike of his war stance, and the idea he may just be a continuation of Bush.
He’s a likeable enough guy, heck he’s all American - but the country as a whole needs to decide do we really want a republican in the white house again.

Is there something I’ve posted somewhere that makes you think I’m more drawn to personalities and other ephemera than policies, and getting them enacted, which requires winning in November, which is the subject here?

Which is meaningless in the General elections, where “winner take all” Big States rule, and of those HRC has won all.

clap clap clap. You were trying to make him suffer through his reading of your post history, weren’t you?

Only one flaw in the otherwise perfect plan: You forgot about me just like Kerry forgot about Poland…and now you too, lose.

on topic: of course he can win, what crazy talk is this? 3 presidential terms were served by black presidents in hit tv show “24”. The guy even made insurance commercials cashing in on his character’s charisma as a president. It’s a done deal, especially a handsome, tall, young man against the oldest candidate ever. You may quote me on this come november and see how right I was.

No, just wondering where the hell he got the notion that it’s even possible I think what he’s asking me if I think. I truly don’t have any idea how he got there, not without making extremely dishonorable inferences.

Okay then … can *you * at least paraphrase something for us?

I was asking you a question, I don’t care to comment on your your posting style or what I perceive your views to be - that’s conjecture. I do think Obama can legitimately win in November - I wouldn’t have invested so much time and money in that fact if I didn’t believe.

Well you did say the decision was requiring some thought because of some BO supporters. Considering you are still arguing and throwing in slights against them in basically any thread on the subject that I’ve read, I can see why some would question which way you’d lean if your girl was to lose.

I don’t understand the hostility of Hillary supporters. What has Obama done other than be utterly gracious and endlessly patient with the craggy old bitch?

They aren’t all that way. In my off-board experience, many have been magnanimous in defeat. There are just some outliers here and there. And some of them have been hostile before Hillary was even their candidate, so I don’t think you can tie it to anything that has to do with the primary.

Fair enough. That’s a helluva long way from supporting McCain, though, sheesh. I do hope more people would have learned by now about even thinking, much less saying, “If you’re not with us, you’re against us”.

Just ftr, in the very recent thread asking Clinton supporters in general that question, a thread I’m pretty sure Phl read too, I did answer the question already. In fact, that’s where you got that from.
Speaking of “BO supporters” and their behavior, I’m not so sure Lib is being facetious right above this. Upon edit, Richard doesn’t see any irony there, either.

I think he was being facetious. I hope so, anyway. And I’m disappointed that Richard took it at face value. Clinton lost my support due to the way she handled her campaign, but I see no reason to sling mud at her.

Yeah, I wasn’t really paying attention to the second sentence. I did take the first one at more-or-less face value.

My off-board experience has been quite pleasent with HRC supporters, like I said above I have dear family members who supported her, some still do. Very few, if any will support McCain.
Elvis - I try not to reference other threads because, at least speaking for myself, I find peoples outlooks change sometimes. It’s tough on a messgae board when you can’t see the looks on people faces what they are really thinking. Sometimes I have read your posts and thought - wow, he must be pissed off. Other times I think you are being sarcastic and other posters take what you say way out of context. So when I ask you a question, I feel doing it directly is best.

Personally, I’d rather follow my candidates lead and act without rancor - Obama has been very causious in saying anything derogatory about HRC, in fact he has been very mindful of her efforts as of late.

I’m just picking on **Elvis ** a bit. I figure we go back far enough (and he picked on me enough) that he can take it in a good spirit. I’m pretty sure that most people know Hillary didn’t lose my support — she never had it. But if shutting my mouth about how I feel about her will help make things better for everyone, then I think at this point I can do that.

Many of you folks I’ve known going on 7 years…from changes in names [Libertarian] to changes in locations [I was in AZ] And I must say it is very interesting to watch how dialogues and posting styles change from when we are debating whether or not Chocolate is better than Vanilla to when talking about political persuasion. I can be talking with someone in IMHO about my siamese attack cats and a minute later get told to piss off in a political thread.

I kinda like the dichotomy…

It would help quite a bit more if you could explore and understand the way you obviously (and proudly) feel, and communicate your findings to us. Make reason overpower emotion, IOW. The ignorance one fights just may include one’s own.
Phl, you *only * know me from political threads, and for that matter well enough by now from our other exchanges, on a level refreshingly above the visceral level that dominates the “contributions” of so many others on your side for that matter, that it was entirely fair to ask you where the hell you got that notion.

And it still *is *fair. So, where the hell *did * you get that notion?
