You are not permitted to post things that encourage illegal activities. In cases like cannabis, which is legal in some areas and illegal in others, we are forced to go by what is legal in Chicago, Illinois, where the SDMB is based. So until cannabis is legal in Chicago, you can’t post things that encourage its use here on the SDMB.
And as a further point of clarification, even if Illinois were to legalize cannabis (I don’t know if there’s a push for it there or not), it would still be illegal under federal law. Speaking as the moderator of Cafe Society, if I saw such a thread, I would close it.

What if someone is vacationing in Amsterdam and starts a thread about this “coffeeshop” and what blends to try, etc.? It’s not illegal in Illinois to talk about smoking marijuana in Amsterdam.
