I remember the other thread. The picture the op is painting of herself is one of visual extremes.
So if that is true what is to be expected? Or put another way, is it possible to present oneself in a way that draws a negative reaction?
This wasn’t bullying, this was rudeness. It’s rude to speak one’s opinion of another’s appearance. But rest assured, others have the same opinion and keep it to themselves.
So is it better to go through life not knowing what people think of your appearance or is there some benefit to hearing it from people who lack the skill of politeness?
I’m not sure why but first impressions carry a great deal of weight in how we’re perceived by others. We judge people by their choices in appearance and behavior and the first impression brands that image in our mind.
How self absorbed do you have to be, to think everyone’s every reaction, in every situation, is a directed at you?
I see absolutely nothing in what you described to indicate what she said was, in any way, directed at you. Maybe she didn’t like the smell of the baking? Maybe she didn’t like the decor? Maybe a thousands things. All way more likely than this having to do with you, in my opinion.
I’d assume that they wanted the donut shop to themselves so they could gossip, gossip with the employee, sit where they wanted, something like that. And they’ve become possessive enough about it that they think it’s okay to make eye contact and rude comments to other customers, when there are other customers. Which makes them problem customers.
