I apologize for misrepresenting. My experience was in the State of California and my recollection was that a child was defined as age 14 and under. In double-checking it’s actually under the age of 14.
I did have a look at the Alabama statutes previously, John Mace, but it was to determine statute of limitations in the 70s. Your points are well made, noted and I stand corrected. Thanks for taking the time and trouble. I’ll stop calling Moore a pedophile and settle for child molester.

He’s been accused of sexually assaulting a 16 year old, which if true would make him more than a pervert. A sexual predator is more accurate.
Some of what Moore didn’t wasn’t illegal, just really inappropriate.
But the 14 year old, the 15 year olds (I believe there were 15 year olds) and the attempted rape of the 16 year old were all crimes.
I never thought I would agree with Charles Barkley, let alone paraphrase him on any subject, but I thought he summed it up well: Roy Moore should have been disqualified long ago, regardless of what people believe about his past sexual conduct.
People are debating whether or not Roy Moore is a pedophile when what we should all be agreeing on is the fact that he’s just a colossal sociopathic shithead, and that’s the last thing our government needs now. His conduct with 14 year olds some 40 years ago may or may not speak to his sexual proclivities now. But it’s clear that he doesn’t respect boundaries of basic propriety. He gets gratification by abusing other people, whether it’s a 14 year old who doesn’t want to touch his 30-year-old penis, or a Muslim who doesn’t want to feel the sting of his bigotry. He obviously had no regard for the law back then, and we know from his getting kicked off the bench that he has no regard for the law now. Alabama is very close to electing a powerful lawmaker who doesn’t care about the law. That’s what we ought to keep in our heads.

Today someone accused Moore of going to a brothel with him in Vietnam which featured underage girls. Before anyone says that it’s fake accusations by people trying to tear down an innocent man, realize that this was one of the introductory speakers at Moore’s rally.

I will be very pleasantly surprised if Moore loses. I have very little hope for that.
Yet, for some reason they resent the label “deplorable.”
Polling is difficult in this election because it’s a very atypical race. But I think Jones is a slight-to-moderate favorite by this point. It would be a surprise upset if Moore wins.
In fact, Doug Jones is just a normal polling error away from a win in alabama.
