Specifically Oakley Spikes.
Titanium Spike at Oakley ca website.
I have a pair that slide down on my nose and would rather they be grippy like the other Oakleys I’ve had.
I know there have been sunglasses threads on the dope in the past. Hopefully one or some of the experts will weigh in.
My prescription glasses have titanium frames. They have been bent out of shape and then restored to their original form, but they are much less… substantial than the sunglasses depicted in your link. I expect an expert could make them fit you though. A large part of correct fit depends on the parts which rest on your nose, which can be easily adjusted.
Yes they can be bent it is thin though. I owned a pair of Oakleys, Sqaure Wires, the old school ones with Titanium frames and I did bend them a little. In fact when I replaced the earpads things I bent the hendge and when I bend it back it broke. Titanium is not Unubtainium
Those glasses also have nosepads, and all nosepads can be adjusted in a variety of ways to fit your nose correctly, as well as change how high/low the glasses sit on your face.
Thanks for the replies. Seems worth going to an eyglasses shop.
You’re right, the Unobtainium is in the nose pads and ear grips.
I hate adjusting something expensive that I don’t sell (like Oakleys, which we do not carry in my office). I have broken frames that I could not replace (but never before warning the patient that it was a possibility).
The sunglasses you have appear to have rubber grippy ends on the temples, and it sounds like you need them to “grip” your head better. Did you buy them online or in a store? These sort of frames really need to fit well, as they are not very easy to adjust. See if you can find a local optician who actually sells Oakleys, as they will surely have experience adjusting them. If the nosepads are nylon, ask an optician to replace them with silicone, which will offer a little grip on the nose.
