I like REAL hummus, probably one of my fav snack foods. However there is an evil out there, which is canned hummus…shudder…it can be identified instantly because it has a gross taste and it uses citric acid instead of lemon juice and no olive oil. I am instantly dissapointed when it crosses my path, and it is showing up more and more as these vaguely middle eastern places are popping up everywhere that mostly serve gyros and kebabs.
hummus…yuck
It’s not as if hummus is particularly difficult or time consuming to make. Man, now I want hummus.
I am so lucky to live in a Middle Eastern neighborhood in Chicago. I am quite confident that there is not a single can of hummus in a several mile radius.
grude, where do you live where such evil abides?
A quick search for “canned hummus” brought me to this site, which says
Is it all canned hummus that’s bad, or just low quality canned hummus that uses citric acid and no olive oil?
I initially thought the thread title said “canned humans”…
“Soylent tahini is peeeople…”
While we are at it we should ban that also.
Edit: ninja’d by Biffy.
I don’t even like store-bought hummus in the plastic tubs very much. Fresh-made hummus is way better.
Salsa (pico de gallo) from a jar is also totally unacceptable. It always pisses me off when a restaurant serves me that crap instead of real salsa.
