It’s a wee bit overdue.
The time parameters on a search were set…oh, back in 2001 or so, IIRC. If you don’t want to search across the entire history of the SDMB, you can search older/newer starting from yesterday, 1 or 2 weeks ago, 1, 3, or 6 months ago, or 1 year ago.
That worked fine in 2001, when ‘more than 1 year ago’ basically meant a little over a year for the server to search through.
Now ‘more than 1 year ago’ means everything from early 1999 to the last week of 2005.
That’s a lot of work to ask of the server if you know that you’re looking for something in a particular 4-month period back in 2002. Not to mention, it spews out a ton of irrelevant search results.
So is there any remote possibility that the CR’s tech people might be able to modify that menu so we could search between two dates, say? Just askin’.
