I can't search as far back as I want

When I try to make a search, my choices as for time go only as far as a year back. It used to be ten years but somehow changed. Is there any way for me to search back further?

This time I"m specifically looking for a thread about making sourdough products, or the starter itself.

I just now googled boards.straightdope.com sourdough starter and got a number of threads that were more than a year old.

I don’t know what you’re doing wrong but you’re doing something wrong. The choices are still up to 10 years old, with the additional choices of “and newer” or “and older”.

Obviously, 10 years old “and older” is going to cover as far back as you need to go unless there were so many threads mentioning sourdough back in 2009 that the limit on number of pages’ worth of results gets in your way. Even then, it also gives you the choices of “ascending” or “descending” and if you go with “ascending” it will start with the oldest occurrence and move forward.

I haven’t actually used the word sourdough in a search yet, because the choices I have, when I click on how far back I want to go, only go up to one year. I will try google searching, but I wanted to keep out of other websites, and narrow things down.

What I need to know is, is there a way to change the settings I see?

OK folks, you heard it here first, I am an idiot. I took another look at the settings and have always gone to the bottom of the list, as the times seemed to increase. I didn’t look at the top closely enough, and that says “Any date”

So I used sourdough in a search, asking just for it’s use in titles. Sheesh, I got listings for threads as far back as 2002.

I’m going to try looking for other threads I remember. Thanks to everyone who so far responded to a dummy like me.

I found a thread I’ve been searching for, for a very long time.

It was started by lieu. They are still a member, but haven’t posted in a while. At the time it was one of the funniest threads I’d ever read.
