Are you sure you’re using the search parameters correctly?
A quick test search of my own brings up this thread from April 1999. That’s possibly the earliest year one could find owing to the change of board format and host.
I did one thing wrong when i changed the parameters “find post from a year ago” and left the right parameter on “and newer ones”. I changes this to “older ones”, but I still can’t find any older post than 2004
User CP -> Edit Options -> Default Thread Age Cutoff -> Show All Threads
done what you said, but I still cant search for posts that predates 2004

No search for threads will return more than 750 of them.
All the threads that had no posts since August 2000 were offloaded (you’ll note that aldiboronti’s example was bumped in 2001). Apparently, the administration has no idea if they are ever getting back online or in what form if they do.
