I believe that the main character was played by Helen Hunt. The movie was about her and her aging father. He was living in another state with he wife (not the character’s mom) and he wrote a profanity (bitch?) on the bathroom mirror with his own shit. The caregiver that is taking care of his wife is done with him and the wife’s family contacts the main character and informs her that she needs to come out and deal with her dad. She moves him across country to a care home in her city (Chicago? New York?) and he goes through the dying process. I think the main character had a brother that was played by Paul Giamatti (~20% sure). She also had a dog that got injured and she broke up with her partner at the beginning of the movie because the partner just wanted to put it down. The end of the movie has her jogging with her dog and it has its back legs supported with wheels.
For the life of me I cannot find this movie and what it was called. I might have the actors misidentified, but even so no amount of googling has revealed it to me. I feel like I am losing my mind as I am 90+% sure it was Helen Hunt but I don’t see it anywhere in her list of works. Either I have completely lost my google-fu, or the the enshittification of the internet is complete. Or I have lost my mind.
Help.
