Can you ID this abstract artist?

I bought a print yesterday, mostly because it goes so well with another piece of art I already have. The clerk couldn’t tell me who it was.

Here is a picture of the signature. It looks like “Sakel” but I’m coming up with any web images to compare. The S could be a C, the k could be a b, the e could an o, …

Maybe Janet Sobel? Doesn’t really look very much like other things I’ve seen by her though.

That art was computer generated.

The signature obviously reads “Cobol”.

Huh? How can you be so sure?

Looks like paint to me. Looks like you can even see the pencil work behind it.

It’s Alfred Gockel. The piece is called Left Point.

Whoo hoo! Thank you so much!

Thanks from me, too, Boyo Jim and Cinnamon Girl. You’ve led me to discover an interesting artist I wasn’t familiar with before.

Boyo Jim, his website is absolutely crammed with pictures of his paintings, if you’re interested. The website has an unusual address so I’ll post it here:

Just click on the Art Gallery link to see his paintings.

You’re very welcome. I recognized the style, but couldn’t quite remember the name. Thank Google, I found it.

SA, you’re welcome, too. I love his abstract. The bright colors and flowing lines. His nudes are also beautiful, though. He’s an interesting artist with quite a range of styles.

Thank you, Boyo Jim, for giving me the opportunity to rediscover him.
