Can you ID this image?

I’m putting this in Cafe Society since this looks like a still from a movie, but I could be way off the mark, so don’t let my assumption constrain you.

The image.

(Background: a friend of mine occasionally tosses out challenges like this, and we’ve got no clue where to begin here.)

No clue, but it screams "SNL impersonation of political figure’ to me. Well…except for the lighting.
Which is probably waaay off the mark.

I don’t know what it’s from, but the guy looks like Sam Huntington from the US version of Being Human

Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge.

I kinda thought it looked like James Cromwell, just really young.

Nic Cage impersonator? Possibly SNL or Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

James Cromwell was once young?

I assumed.

My first thought was he looks like Steve Coogan.

Looks BBC-y to me.

Could be Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge.

Could it be from Brazil?

That’s Steve “Og” Coogan, from the TV show 1920’s Style Death Rays. This particular 20 minute sketch, Marianas Trench, aired once, in the 1960’s.

I really liked the Coogan/Partridge lead and, after poking at Google images and YouTube, I was convinced. Alas! I’ve been informed that this is not a picture of Coogan. What else?

Sure! Stretch Cunningham vs Zefram Cochrane.

Not that he was young, as such, as Stretch - he was on AitF from 73 to 76, whereas First Contact came out in 96 - but he was certainly noticeably younger.

As to the picture in the OP, I’m going to agree with everyone that it’s probably Steve Coogan, though not Alan Partridge - the hair doesn’t look right.

Well, we didn’t get this one, but I now have the answer. It’s a still from this movie, from this scene in particular. So… yeah… there probably wasn’t much hope on this one. Has anyone every actually heard of this movie, let alone seen it?

Nope, but it looks pretty Canadian, all right!

Saul Rubinek, a young Kim Cattrall, Jennifer Dale, Paul “Spider-Man/Hermey the Elf” Soles, etc.

Geez, he was only in his mid-30s during AitF - either that’s not the best angle or he’s always looked a tad weathered.

I saw it in Sunday school. We were learning about cults and how to avoid joining one.

And the background music for the sketch was “Rio” by Duran Duran.
