The last time I saw a 25-point lead blown like this was by the Falcons in the Super Bowl.
With every poll that reports, Fanjoy’s lead increases. PP is toast.
Socialism in action!
Better defund that shit! /s
Popular vote is about 1.5% apart, nationally.
Michael Chong is winning his seat by a lot. Back when Harper quit, I signed up to vote for Chong as the new CPC leader. If PP does tank, might Chong make another move to lead the CPC?
Singh is losing in Burnaby Central. Currently third, behind the Liberal (1st) and the Conservative (2nd).
May is elected in her riding for the Greens.
CBC is talking about the delays in counting the advance votes. I think we should just make a rule: we start counting those the morning of the official vote day, and hopefully they’ll all report right away when the polls close. This hodge podge of advance results delays serves no one.
This is the first two-party federal election in Canada in a century.
Insignificant question: both a pen and pencil were available today.
Which did you use?
I’ve always voted with a pencil, so that’s what I picked up. My husband too.
I think if you try to erase the pencil the paper smudges so I’m not very concerned about alterations.
I also made an X not a
Yay!! While the Liberal landslide I was hoping for didn’t happen, a Liberal government, even if a minority, and PP buggering off into the sunset are all good things!
I love the NDP but I’m not sure Singh was ever the right choice. If only we could resurrect Jack Layton!
Well, I have to work in the morning and can’t stay up for advance polls to trickle in. Best wishes, all.
Elected and leading:
Liberals 162
Conservatives 149
Bloq 23
NDP 8
Green 1
Cons now LEADING in our riding (Maillardville). I voted NDP, but only after checking the polls assiduously and reading up on the (rather weak) Liberal candidate. Conservatives has an 8% chance of winning the riding this morning, but are outperforming expectations.
The candidate who was kicked out by the Conservatives for mysterious reasons but ran anyway as an independent is getting less than 1% of the vote — I hoped he’d be a spoiler.
Only pencils at my advance poll last weekend. Honkin’ great huge pencils, not the little golf-style I’m accustomed to.
Fanjoy’s lead has decreased a bit, but he’s still well ahead of PP.
Oh yes, oversized pencil! I felt like a toddler using it!
Yeah, I’m with you on that. I’m thinking that the Tories are going to have to do some serious thinking about who their next leader will be. “Maybe we shouldn’t choose someone quite so Trumpy.”
And there actually seem to be a couple/few hundred votes for all those independent candidates. It would be weird if that actually makes a difference in the end.
I thought it was strange, but yes, both a ballpoint pen and a pencil were in the voting booth. But it wasn’t a “honking great” kindergarten style pencil, just a fairly ordinary one. I thought the pen was just something someone had forgotten there. I used the pencil, as I always do. And made a very clear and distinct “X” in the little circle, not a check mark.
Today was the first time I noticed that every ballot has a serial number, and that before giving you the ballot to deposit in the box, the poll worker tears off a section that contains a copy of the serial number. What they do with it I do not know,
