Just came out in a couple of news sources.
School principal sued the Toronto District School Board, alleging he was called a white supremacist after pushing back on a narrative being put forward at an anti -racism training session. He’s now committed suicide. Provincial Minister of education has ordered an inquiry.
It’s not the first time the KOJO Institute’s diversity training resulted in a lawsuit. Except for the suicide, the reporting on this previous incident is very similar. During the diversity training the trainer either said or implied Canada was racist, or was misinterpreted as saying such, and then one of the trainees took issue with that, and then it escalated very quickly and resulted in a lawsuit.
I’m not assigning blame - I don’t know anything about racism in Canada or how to best go about diversity training. For all I know, aside from the suicide aspect, confrontation and lawsuits are regular occurrences for diversity training consultants.
