Canada's Thanksgiving begins the holiday season in the MMP!

Evening all - Semi-lazy day, went for a nice bike ride mid day.

Dinner was a HH notso hotso martini, goat balls, and fancy sliders. Now home watching the Dodgers contend with the Brewers. GF is laughing at me; the last time my TV was on before this week was during the World Series last year.

Otherwise little here at Casa LSL. Won’t finish tonight’s game before sleepy sets in.

TJ’s chicken wing segments (mostly the ‘drumstick’ pieces because I don’t like them and want to eat them first) with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and Frank’s Red Hot, with blue cheese dressing.

The doctor’s office called Monday and rescheduled for today. Got stuff done Monday. Threw Tuesday into a bit of a spin. I had 2 building meetings on Tuesday, the rescheduled appt spilled into one of them. Isn’t that always the way.

Woke up, got my cats set, went to visit my new buddy, then breakfast out and started the new book. Building maintenance came by and unclogged the tub and sink in the bathroom. They had been draining slowly, replaced the shower head as well. Then dr, meeting, see new buddy, finish book and next meeting.

Finally back and catching up with y’all. Back to the office tomorrow. Le sigh.

The next time I fix them, you’re invited for supper! (We’ll leave OYKW to his own devices).

I’ve been wearing the new "(made in China with a Japanese movement) watch this afternoon. I put it on the winder, but it runs out of steam. The winder is more than a quarter of a century old, and the turner for the new watch doesn’t turn reliably. I gave it about 100 turns with the stem this afternoon, so I’m hoping that will keep it running until tomorrow. I’ll wear it on our vacation next week, and keep the Rolexes and the vintage Seiko safe at home.

Up from naptime, having a Manhattan with chicken, rice and refried bean burritos. Late night hockey. #CanesAfterDark

So if you put Spot and Otis together, you could have 24 hour zoomies.

You wouldn’t do well at Brown. it’s expected that something would break unexpectedly.

To get into the damage program, I have to enter my password to unlock my phone, enter another password to unlock the authenticator app, put that pass word into the MFA app, an d then use the provided password to get into the program. I could get into SIOP easier.

Thanksgiving went well. Had a sort of stovetop turkey casserole tonight. Also made stock with the carcass and then went for a bit of a walk in the dark. (Dark by 6 now). Snow was still around in the morning, but gone by evening.

I have a new case at the office. Started working on the brief. I think it will be a fun challenge to set out the argument. I have an idea for a new approach.

Another brief coming up, and prepping for a hearing in a couple of weeks.

@Paintcharge , that fountain looks amazing. I’ve never had the least bit of talent for that sort of thing. I’m envious!

Late night final report…and nothing much to report, have been practicing my RDOS skills since finishing my Mac-n-Cheese and will head off to bed sooner than later. It’s 64F outside presently and heading down to the mid-50’s so another comfortable night with no AC or heat on. Cancelled soccer practice for Thursday, the local High School is having their homecoming parade and closing down the main road between me and where we practice, so figure most of my parents live on this side of the road and those that don’t will be encountering heavier than normal traffic, so I determined it wasn’t worth it.

swampy, I know one or two Spanish cuss words, one in German, and a phrase in French, but that’s about all I’ve got outside English (which provides a comfortable range anyways).

rocky, sounds like a pretty full day, hope all went according to plan.

Piper, glad the Canadian celebration went well. Enjoy the briefing prep.

And that’s consumes what little ambition I have left today. See y’all on Hump Day.

Bah humbug. Interesting times here which will hopefully conclude at one of my IEP meetings tomorrow. I felt like I got punched in the gut the other day. I’ve been working on this one particular IEP which is very sensitive and difficult. I asked the big boss for help last Friday, but she didn’t see my request until yesterday. I’d already asked several other people for help. One of them is not very kind ever, however, she is thorough. She proceeded to rip me apart in her critique and not only that, but she also sent a copy of her critique to the principal. I was very hurt by this. I mean, if I had known all of the answers, I wouldn’t have to ask for help. I talked to my friend about it all and she kind of talked me down saying maybe that it wasn’t about me due to the aforementioned sensitive nature of the stuff going on. She could be right and I actually think she is. Nonetheless, it’s still disconcerting to feel like you’ve been thrown under the bus when you’re asking for help.

I hope y’all have a good day.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/49f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Call me fucking crazy, but I think this is a fucking shorts day.” No, not really, but if you absolutely have to…

Awwww….hopefully he’s making the most of the opportunity for extra attention.

Typical cat behaviour, you spend ages working out what they like and then buy a large quantity of it. At that point, they go completely off it and want something else.

I agree, impressively appalled is definitely the way forward.

{{{{{Sticky Buns}}}}} That is a horrible experience, and really not professional at all. You asked for help because you needed to do the job properly and it looks like you had to ask several people because the person you needed wasn’t available. It’s not your fault that you didn’t have the answers, nor that you had to ask because these things are delicate and often time-sensitive. You did the right thing, she did entirely the wrong thing. I hope you’re able to talk to the principal about this and let them know how it’s affected you.

No real excitement here today, I logged out of work yesterday and prepped food for campus for the rest of the week. Made something for dinner and vegged on the sofa for a while before bed. I was up early to get my hair washed and make myself presentable to be about the public. I’ve had an email from my friends confirming we’re all ok for the pub tonight too.

Highlight of the day, I am off to get my flu shot now!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 81 and sunny. We made the executive decision last night to put off the procurement of provisions until tomorrow. Both of us have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for shrimpies ‘n grits. I prefer to buy shrimpies on the day they will be et up. Since tonight is Wednesday doin’s over to the church house, today’s main need to feed is taken care of already. So RDOS inactivities will take up the day here at da cave.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I know my avatar is a minion raising his hands in a scary gesture, but every time I see it, I think “pointy haired boss”… I suppose that’s scary in its own way!

I texted a friend last night - she’s the one who had a mild stroke last month and I wanted to see how she’s doing. She decided to join the RDOS on Dec 1. She’s only 3 months younger than I am and I say it’s about time!!! I invited her for Turkey Day - no response on that yet.

Today is supposed to be sunny and low 70s, so Otis will get a good walk. We’ll do the mile anna quarter walk around the block. I’m looking for things to tire him, because the alternative is being his chew toy. I’ll be so glad when he starts getting his training.

No other plans so far. No need to tell you where FCD will be going - he’s so pleased now that the generator has been put in place. He’s got to make up a couple more fuel hoses and he’ll get measurements for the shelf that will hold the new water heater, pressure tank, and water pump. Plumbing is the next project.

My meds are ready for pickup at CVS and there are a few items at Food Lion that I want to get, so if FCD gets home soon enough, I’ll head to Leonardtown. In all, a fairly acceptable RDOS day.

Happy Wednesday!

Full disclosure: I hated (Canadian) Thanksgiving.

Saturday and Sunday were spent up at the cottage, getting it ready for winter. Ever spent the night in bed, in a winter parka in a place that had no heat? Well, I have.

Then, on Monday, it was Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s. Three-piece suit, tie, clean shirt, dress shoes, yep, nothing less. Grandma would let my Mom know if she disapproved of my clothing, and I would hear about it.

I grew to hate so-called “three-day weekends.” They weren’t weekends; they were three days of me suffering through family gatherings I had no interest in, and was not allowed to escape from. I was never so glad to go back to school on Tuesdays.

You have my sympathies. We were never a “dressing up” family, except for weddings and funerals and the occasional special party. And the tradition continues - my grandson may well show up wearing his rain boots that have drawings of fossils on them. Or both grands will wear their Halloween costumes. I may wear my good jeans instead of the comfy sweats I mostly wear around the house. (We’re hosting this year.)

OK, time for shower and getting dressed. I can’t be in fuzzy robe and slippers all say… can I???

I meant to mention in my earlier post - I’m reading another trashy novel by a different author (I’m working my way thru them alphabetically.) The two main female characters, being upper class, have ladies’ maids to attend them. The maids’ names are (I kid you not) Lucy and Ethel. It can’t be an accident…

 :joy:

Good morning.

It’s 35°F, dark and clear outside. The day will start mainly sunny, but by afternoon we’ll have a few clouds, with a daytime high of 62°F. I turned on the heat for overnight because, but will probably turn it off again later this morning.

I remember having to dress up for holidays, especially Easter, when I was a child. As we grew older, the requirement for dressing up was pretty much relaxed. When I first started celebrating Christmas Eve at my in-laws, I dressed up, but in the last few years, it’s been more comfortable. I always wore a nice blouse or sweater, though. The in-laws have been gone for many years now, so Christmas and Thanksgiving are relaxed affairs. I’ve even done pajama Christmas Day. I want people to be comfortable, so if they want to dress up, fine, but if not, that’s fine, too.

We went out for lunch yesterday, and then over to the German deli for coldcuts, cheese, bread, and Brötchen. Dinner consisted of the last of the split pea soup and a sammich.

Sticky Buns, I hope today is much better.

My thermostat has options for fan, auto, and circulate. I always leave it on auto, and have never tried the circulate option.

Metal Mouse, I always prefer early flights, so I can’t blame my son for wanting an earlier one, too. Frankly, I’m surprised he’s flying this early, because he usually wants to fly later. Maybe his options were limited.

I saw Christmas stuff at the END OF AUGUST. It’s just ridiculous now.

I’m not sure what the day holds for me. My son will arrive this evening sometime, and I’m sure he and Mr. Taters will game for a bit before he heads off to bed.

I’ll probably get out in the yard and take care of some fall/winter prep in the gardens and that’s about it.

Okay, on with the day. Take care of yourselves.

Morning all. In bed until 7:30am and am working my way through the morning apple, temperature is 65F heading to 83F and no rain in sight, so another perfect electric/gas-saving day. Nothing much on the agenda until soccer practice at 5:30pm, we’ll see how the day goes if anything gets done or not.

Sticky Buns, well, at least you know one person not to ask for help anymore, so there is that plus. Still, not a good feeling, take care.

Boo fae, happy pub night. Hope the flu shot doesn’t hurt much.

FCM, some people retire as soon as they can, others simply don’t know anything but work. Sounds like your friend was in-between, but has finally seen the light of RDOS… And you have to wonder what FCD would be doing with his time if he didn’t have the boat to fiddle with… And I wonder if the youngn’s (those under 40) have a clue who Luck and Ethel were…

Don’t know the last time I wore a tie or even a dress shirt; probably been at least 5-6 years. I have the supplies in my closet, but they just sit there like musuem relics. Probably should get a couple new shirts, I doubt I still have an 18.5" neck.

And apple is cored (managed not to eat any seeds) and life is proceeding, so onward into Hump Day. Have a good one all.

back at the office today. lager was not amused. neither am i.

He’d probably still be working. He can’t just do nothing and he doesn’t understand how I can. Except it’s not exactly nothing. I read, I < gag > dust, I tend to the house and shopping, I occasionally crochet or knit, I watch TV, I Mump. Even as RDOS, I have ways of occupying my time.

Like just now - back from walking Otis. I went down both cul de sacs rather than around the block - total walk 1.33, so we went a bit farther. It was a tad chilly, but I was comfy in my hoodie. I will need a hat to cover my ears, tho, as it gets cooler. And gloves - I’m sure I have some somewhere.

Almost time to build a sammich for lunch. I think I’ll do something with the leftover chickie for supper. Maybe chickie salad?

Onward…

The Spousal Unit is drying her hair. When she’s done, I’ll think about making a breakfast burrito. Whoops! She’s done!

I don’t know what’s for dinner tonight. We have two pork chops leftover in the fridge. I had chicken wings last night, and she had a turkey sandwich. Tomorrow we’ll go down the beach for dinner.
