(Old) Canada's Thanksgiving begins the holiday season in the MMP!

Hello Wednesday.

Wednesday is my “everything else” day, when I theoretically get things done around the house and teach private lessons. No students on the docket today, so now I have to figure out how to keep myself busy.

Of course I also have rehearsal this evening.

I was about to put the bacon into the toaster oven, when the phone rang. It was the credit union, calling to complete the wire transfer to pay off my mortgage. Soon (I hope), I will officially be a hoe moaner!

FCD got a friend request on FB allegedly from my mom. I looked at the profile - apparently my mom was born in 1960, six years after I was born! So I got him to block the faker and I reported it. Why do people do that? I guess they think to scam others??

Anyway, he’s home, so I’ll head out to get my meds and dash into Food Lion.

Up, puzzled and exercised.

We finally got to have a look at our new director yesterday. She looks alarmingly like Sarah Palin. But she seems engaged with things and will hopefully work out.

Got an email from the insurance company telling us our payment bounced. Called today and gave them a different credit card number to use while we await replacement of the other one.

The wife’s stool sample came back positive, so she may be headed for a colonoscopy. Or not. She’s sick of tests at this point.

When Sis was still teaching the elementary science lab, their class guinea pigs were Lucy and Ethel.

Yikes! Unless it was a holiday that involved going to mass, we weren’t dress up folks for holidays. Even if mass was on the table before the gathering, us kids always took play clothes to change in to once we were with the family.

Could it be someone with the same name as your mother?

I hope that everything goes (snerk) well for that. I got my orders to get the poop in a box thing this morning.

Finally getting around to posting. I went to my new PCP this morning. Everything went well, although she did insist on scheduling the above mentioned test and a mammo soon. I almost didn’t find the damn place. The complex was huge and the only numbers on the building were the suite numbers. Sis said that that’s pretty common in Houston.

After I go the the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions, I may get Nelson and try out the dog park in the Heights…or I might just wait until Friday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

So I was left to just load Middle Green today, and guess what? It went 1000% better. In other news, the Senior Clerk is back from leave, and one of the loaders is retiring, and I’ll be taking his slot. The drivers are insane with joy over that.

Yeah. You’re colleges, not Survivor contestants. There was no need to send the critique to the principal.

yep:

Sounds more like a corporate retreyat than a family gathering.

Dust? Alphabetize your spices? Sing a Klingon opera?

Can she see Russia from her office?

Not catching things would suck worse.

“Dust” is probably the answer. I did sing some opera, but just the boring Italian kind. I’m not touching the spice cabinet for fear of being buried under the inevitable collapse of its fragile infrastructure.

And the same profile picture? The same very rare first and last names? With no friends? Who just happened to send FCD a friend request? What are the odds?

Back from erranding. Got my meds plus some other things from Food Lion. Built a chickie salad for supper to go on the greens I bought during the aforementioned grocery stop. So I think I’ve earned some more reading time - gotta find out what’s going on with Lucy and Ethel!!

Hey everyone. I’ve missed a few days, so hope that things are going well for everyone.

Happy Canada Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, I hope the feast was good.

I haven’t eaten a family Thanksgiving for over 30 years. We either ate with friends or ate alone. Now that we are living in the same state with his family, we have the choice to drive a couple of hours for the feast or stay home and eat with friends.

His family is lovely and welcoming. Some of them are good cooks. A two hour drive after eating a large dinner isn’t as appealing as it could be so will stay home and avoid the holiday traffic.

I already have my “task list” for the neighborhood feast. Cookies and boozy cranberry sauce.

Way back when Mom was still compos mentis, I set her phone up to give her local weather alerts for our neighborhood in AZ. I did this so she wouldn’t worry if she saw MAJOR ARIZONA FLOODING on the news and could check to see if we were in the danger area.

Well, she has forgotten that we no longer live in AZ and is now super upset about the fires. I don’t know how to shut that function off on a phone that I don’t have in my hands and it hurts my heart that she is getting so worried about it.

In other news, someone on the Main Coon forum recommended getting a thick jute rug for our big kitties to have a proper sized flat scratcher. I promptly bought one and learned that GG is a good kitty who has house manners. He does not scratch up the rugs, that is just not done.

Jolene has no such concerns, she thinks it’s a great scratcher and nap pad, so I put it in front of her armchair. I wouldn’t want her delicate tootsers getting cold on the bare floor after all!

Actually, now that we had the crawlspace insulated, the floors don’t get that cold anymore, but it doesn’t matter. Jolene is special, she deserves all the spoiling she can get.

I was looking at the front yard noticing how many leaves have fallen already. I need to give it a quick once-over, chopping the leaves and blowing them into the woods/shrubs. That might take half an hour. FCD wants to go to the boat junk place across the bay so we may do that tomorrow. Or not. Who knows…

Howdy Y’all! Home from the doin’s. Actually been home for over an hour but needed some chill. OYKW is already abed as he was tahrd. The Hispanic crew was back at the neighbors today. They put an aluminum roof on the shed. That involved less naughty Spanish. They were done with it by two p.m. OYKW picked up on some of the cuss words today. He’s a fast learner.

ETA cause everyone wants to know this: We had biiiiiig baked N.O.T. with chili and all kinds of toppin’s, sallit and ‘s’mores brownies. I need to remember to do that for sup sometimes. Both of us lurve a good loaded baked N.O.T.

Food Lion had a 5# bag of russets for $1.99 - guess what tomorrow’s supper will be!!

And a good evening all. Back from soccer, the youth of America have been yelled at and I’ve added a few more calories worked off, so a good evening. Chee-burger has been prepared and consumed and am gnawing of some baby carrots for my health, so feeling pretty good. Temperature is 68F heading down to the mid-50’s so Fall is apparently here. Have a little shopping to do tomorrow (braunschweiger run) and a soccer game to referee, so that should get me out and about. Dishwasher is finishing up shortly so the dishes will have to be put back where they can be dirtied again. Outside of that a night of sloth is contemplated.

Had an odd call this afternoon from Verizon, they wanted to lower my monthly phone bill by 25% for a year in honor of my paying on-time, but the guy kept repeating himself and couldn’t get past getting my e-mail. But he never asked for personal info like a credit card or my SSN, so I let him go on, and eventually got switched to another Verizon agent who wanted to upgrade my phone, and when I said I wasn’t interested in that right now and had been talking to a guy about a discount, I was disconnected and have no idea what the heck was going on. I’ve checked my accounts and such and no change there (never gave out my Card number), so I think I will drop by the local Verizon office tomorrow and see what’s what.

And catching up with the teeming masses…

FCM, I probably spend way to much time on You Tube, have about 15-18 channels saved that I watch, so that takes up a good chunk of my day, along with shopping, soccer, gym, and other duties as called for.

flyboy, conga-rats on the incipient home-ownership.

Cookie, hopefully looks do not make the woman and the new director will be fine. And a colonoscopy is not a ‘test’, it is a bodily invasion, but probably not a bad idea. Was it a Cologuard test she took?

red, the Cologuard is pretty easy and their directions are quite complete, should be no problem.

doggio, so with your new responsibilities, of course they will be paying you more (laughs at own joke…)/

JtC, glad you could check in, saves us trying to find your arrest record…expect you’ll be out and about on the 18th. And {{{hugs}}} for both you and your Mom. And of course Jezebel appropriated the rug, what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too, in the feline brain.

And need to shut down the dishwasher and empty it out. Take care all.

Have a good night SSR. I have a brief to review. Getting up far too early to catch the Homecoming plane. Will be wearing my class leather jacket. Will see if I connect en transit with others heading old uni-wards.

SWMBO decided on (Hebrew National) hot dogs for dinner. I opened a can of Hormel chilli (no beans) and heated it up. So we had chili-cheese dogs (shredded cheddar) for dinner. I had two, on Sara Lee Delightful Multi-Grain bread, and she had one on store-brand wheat.

I’ve also had a couple of rounds of ibuprofen today. My Arthur-itis is acting up.

Yeah, I’ve done that one before. I’m wondering how long it will be before they’ll demand that I do an actual colonoscopy though.

Up from naptime, having a martini and teriyaki chicken for dinner.

Spot likes to sleep on the comforter under my bed, but my room gets cold. I’ve have considered getting him an electric blanket for down there.

MetalMouse: “GET OFFA MY LAWN!”
Kids: “Uhhh, we’re supposed to be here, it’s a soccer field and you’re our coach.”

Well, I did get a hug from the one driver. Otherwise, “there will be no money, but on your deathbed you’ll receive total consciousness.”

I’m almost 70 and I’ve been able to avoid it so far.

I have an inflatable unicorn suit for the occasion. 40 bucks at the dollar store and the battery powered fan actually works. I’ll have more batteries handy.

Buy a heated kitty pad instead. Electric blankies can get too hot for their delicatness, so you need something that doesn’t get that hot. Ask me how I know, LOL!

So, does the extra responsibility come with extra money? HAHAHAHA, I made a joke!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 54 degrees Ferret Height(12.2 Centipedes).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “All the fucking clouds are dirty, lurking bastards.” Sounds like weather app is not a fan…

We used to have smart outfits for holidays but we’re much more relaxed now. If I am at home on xmas day, I am not getting out of my jammies unless I absolutely have to.

I had a fairly good commute home yesterday and got my domestic stuff done in good time to get ready for pub night. Had fun with my friends but it was a late night so after getting home and giving the cats their treats and some fuss, it was nearly midnight before I got to bed. I didn’t sleep very well and am quite tired today so I’ve rescheduled one of today’s meetings to tomorrow afternoon. It’s with my current troublesome minion and I really don’t have the mental capacity to deal with her today.
