Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of 84 and sunny. We shall procure provisions this mornin’, to include shrimpies. Then we will indulge in RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be shrimpies ‘n grits, baked spare guts and rolls. YUMMY!
FlyBoy conga rats on the payoff of the mortgage! When I paid mine off, it felt so good. I was all “look at me, the mature and responsible adult!”
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify myself and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life can be just so hard!
In the Old Times (before Otis) Ziva would spend most of her time under the bed, but she’d started coming out to lie in front of the pellet stove when it was running. I expect she’ll do the same after he’s been crated for the night. Once we fire up the stove, of course.
Same here!! At least it was when I woke up. And like you, FCD had a bad, broken night. So he canceled today’s outing. I’m kinda glad - I really didn’t want to go.
When I retired the first time, FCD and I talked about taking a chunk of my TSP and paying ours off, but our money guy advised against it. So we took his advice, which wound up being good - the money earned lots more in the annuities than we were paying in interest. Then I refinanced at a much lower rate (just before they shot up again) and rolled a loan into it so the new payment is smaller than the two combined. It’s working for us
Plan for today - ride ol’ John Deere around the yard. There are leaves that need crunching and actually some tall grass. So once it warms a tad, I’ll deal with that. I may or may not run to Aldi. The day will unfold and I’ll figure it out as I go along. So forward into the unknown!!
I know you’re all wondering about Lucy and Ethel in my trashy novel. Well, Lucy was never mentioned again after the one time, and Ethel eloped to Gretna Green (everyone elopes to Gretna Green) forcing the earl’s sister to find another maid. Which she did. Then she married another earl and gave birth to the next earl on Christmas. And they all lived happily ever after.
I told you they’re trashy!!
Temp dropped to 46°. I’ve showered and dressed. FCD is still abed. Otis misses his daddy. I’m about to settle in my recliner with my sudoku till it warms enough to venture outside.
Morning all. Up about 6:30am but for once my bladder let me sleep through the night so feeling OK. Took the trash out to the curb so that of course means the garbage guys won’t be by until at least 1pm. Need to do some shopping, some inquiring, and some exercise over the balance of the day, so should keep me busy and out of trouble. Temperature is 61F heading to 84F and no rain in sight.
Piper, glad you’re on your way home, and had a quick passage through the airport, my local airport is on the small side (about 10 gates/40 flights/day) and I can usually get through everything in about 15-20 minutes. Of course that usually means going through a hub airport and that madness, but still a good start.
Naah, mostly they just ignore me, or I repeat instructions 3-4 times slowly and they still mess up the drill.
boo fae, good plan not to confront minion without a good night’s rest.
FCM, happy mowage. And thanks for the novel update, I was all agog about the ladies adventures…
And time to break my fast with a Big Bowl of Cheerios and start re-dirtying the dishes. Have a good Thorsday all.
It’s 36°F, clear, and the sun is just barely coming up. We’ll have a mixture of clouds and sun throughout the morning, but by afternoon, the clouds will win the battle, bringing a daytime high of 62°F.
I left the house at 4:58 a.m. this morning to drop my son off at the airport. I got him to the departures terminal at 6:00 a.m., and I was back home by 6:36 a.m. The drive home was much shorter.
When I got into the house, the dogs greeted me, and I got myself some coffee. I haven’t changed into comfies yet, but I may do so later. In the meantime, I’m all cleaned up for the public, but I have nowhere to go. I should dash over to Safeway to get the pups some Frosty Paws.
I guess I’m going foraging for chanterelles the Saturday after next. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. It’s a long drive out there, and I don’t want my foraging partner to become frustrated by the weather or terrain. Last time we went, just as we finally found a good spot, she was ready to go home. I was frustrated, to say the least. Hopefully, it’ll be better this time.
I’m glad you checked in JtC. I’m sorry about your mother.
Alrighty, it’s time for another cup of coffee. Then I’ll probably head on over to Safeway, and maybe, I’ll change before heading over there and take a walk through the park.
Avocado toast this morning, with a couple of eggs on the side.
I somehow managed to step on something sharp on the way to bed last night. Drew blood. No idea what it was, but it’s kinda sore this morning. I took some antibiotic capsules to be on the safe side, as any infection can be a real problem for post-op/joint replacement people.
We had intentions of doing laundry today, but I’m not sure the momentum is there.
The cat sitter came to pick up the key. Goo came out to say hello, but walked around the chair instead of past her. As CatMom showed the sitter where the light switches are, Goo observed from a safe distance. CatMom opened the Temptations container and gave the cat sitter some to give to Goo. Goo was suddenly her friend. She put Temptations on the floor for Goo to eat, and I suggested Goo might take the rest from her hand. And she did. Abbey stayed out in the catio, but observed through the French door. I let her in eventually, and she hid behind the couch.
It’s after 9:30, so I’ve decided to just have a breakfast burrito. The bacon is cooking now.
Our cats haven’t figured that out. They sniff around the edge of the hand, but pay no attention to the treats in the middle of my palm.
Sound like what Lady SCAdian and her mother call “bathtub books” – you can read them in the tub because you don’t really care if they fall in the water.
I’m 71, and thus far no one has even hinted that I might want to try one.
Since I’m reading on my tablet, I’d care! But they remind me of the trashy novels my grandmother used to get at the thrift store, giving me the ones that had “good parts”!
I’ve had 3, but luckily, I can do the home, um, offering. No family history of cancer, but my doc is cautious.
Idiot Otis chewed part of the old mattress I’d put in his crate (memory foam) so I ordered a replacement with a washable cover and it came today. He tried it out in the living room before I put it in the crate. Pic on FB.
FCD just called saying he was trapped in traffic in Solomons. Turns out there’s an accident or something on the bridge across the Patuxent, so he’s going to head north thru Prince Frederick and cross the river at Benedict. Long way home but it beats sitting in traffic.
I was on the 100 Slides. Except when I was on the 200 Sort Table, or Secondary Sort, or anywhere else I was supposed to be. The 200 Slide was deluged with things that needed scanning and data entry. And the 100 Slide was deluged with stuff for the one Air driver to take to the Fairgrounds. And the Stae Fair opened this morning. The Senior Clerk and the Smalls clerk helped me clean up the damages and overgoods, so we were out at a reasonable time. I did my Senior Day shopping, which wwas $105. Which was a,lot for a little even counting the beer.
She wears me down just reading about her.
that sounds like me explaining things to management.
mmmmmm…'shrooms…
I keep thinking Guadalcanal when I read that. Like FCD might be fixing some PT boats to shoot up the Tokyo Express or something.
Thank you. It is painful at times, but at least I can keep her entertained with the same old stories over and over.
She goes to the senior center for lunch and social time. She said there are a couple of young people she sees on their phones all the time, so I’m hoping they can help out. I’ll call her tomorrow while she’s at lunch and ask her to ask one of the phone kids to talk to me.
It’s not a complicated process, but she has an I phone so I can’t just navigate my tool bar and tell her the steps as I go.
In other news, I have obtained six big glitter poppers and four big containers of glitter as well as a pink gardening apron to carry it all. If I get arrested, it will by the glitterest ICE agents eveh. (I know it is bad for the environment. I know confetti would be better and biodegradable. Confetti is more annoying and will make them feel silly.)
The trees are starting to really show their colors now. We are planning on going back to Fayetteville on Monday, the colors should be choice then.
Now that the leaves are dropping and I can see farther than 10 feet into the forest, I’m finding more hex signs. Here’s an old mill, the wheel is out of the water by the back now.
Here’s the Hex Sign as close as my phone could get:
This one was on the sign of an old store, all of these pics were taken up by Hawks Nest State Park.
I saw this handsome guy on the way to Charleston: (Mothman, WV’s most famous cryptid)
He was alone last year, this year he brought a friend:
I just learned you can’t edit blurred text. Glitter, not confetti, is more annoying.
And a good afternoon. Braunschweiger run was completed successfully so I am stocked up until Thanksgiving. Visited the Verizon store and apparently the deal the guy on the phone yesterday was trying to arrange was to get me a new phone at a lower (starting) rate. But I’m happy enough with the old one (3 years) I have and the savings was predicated on my changing my internet to their system, and I didn’t feel a pressing need to do that. But was polite about it and parted friends. Then some gym time and snackage and will head out in about an hour to referee a make-up soccer game–but the local High School is having their Homecoming Parade on a major street right smack dab between me and the fields, so will have to leave early to take a detour there. Ah well, such is life. It’s 82F outside, just another beautiful day.
red, happy Girl’s day.
Taters, hope son has a good flight and you have a restful day.
Cookie, never cut my foot like that, but have had the occasional blood-spot that I can’t figure out where it came from.
Piper, oops, my bad. Hope travel isn’t too stressing.
flyboy, a promising start to the cat-sitters’ efforts.
I’m a bit surprised by that; I had mine at age 55 and have had a couple of Cologuard follow-ups since then.
FCM, saw the new Otis-mat on Facebook, hope this one lasts a bit longer.
True enough, but you can’t send the managers over to sit by their parents for 5 minutes…
JtC, some more {{{hugs}}} for you and Mom. And while I admire your creative skills, please try not to get arrested (unless there is no other option and I trust you will know when there isn’t). And lovely pictures!!
OK, need to get my refereeing clothes out and begin the changeover to Whistle-Blowing Man. Take care all.
Hi all - Approaching 6pm on Thu. I’m home and will be staying in to watch the two MLB playoff games starting in a few minutes. Should be a quiet evening to cap off a couple of quiet days here.
I’ve been reading along in the MMP every day and it seems most of us are having a calm, or at least crisis-free, week. Or else the several folks who haven’t been posting are having such major crises they don’t have time or bandwidth to post.
I’ve been told to expect to retrieve my car from the body shop tomorrow, so if that holds up I’ll have it for the weekend. GF will visit Sat & Sun, plus maybe into Mon. Her son is finally over his snit and they’re doing a kiss-and-make-up session together the following weekend. Hooray for that.
Otherwise as Calvin used to say, the days are just packed!
The waterfall/stream is coming along. All those stones are embedded in mortar, so’s the little rugrats can’t bean each other over the head with them. A full day of working on the ground has took it out of me…I’s tired. One more day of this and I think we’re close to done.
Sis and I went to Texas Art Asylum before we went grocery shopping. She made out like a bandit with leather and beads. I got four embossing folders, some good, solid color cardstock and a new-in-package of practice board, which I’ll use to make posters for Saturday (that’s slated for tomorrow while laundry washes). A good time was had by all.
I had to look up what those are. I didn’t get much out of the AI overview, so I started watching the first video I found… and stopped when it said you need an embossing machine, and ‘here is a trick’. So not for me; but it sounds like you’ll have some fun with them!
