No.
I’ve never heard of Snowbird being used pejoratively. To me, it just refers to the (predominantly Quebecois, predominantly retired) people who winter in Florida.
Ignorance fought. I always wondered why that sign was on the bridge (although it appears to be gone now).
Bite the bullet, baby. Bite the bullet.
I see you’ve driven in Alberta.
Oh, you totally need to do this.
You guys only pay your servers pennies per hour then only tip 20%? We pay our servers $10/hour plus, AND tip 20%. Boy, you Americans sure are cheap tippers!
Also western Canadians who winter in Arizona (the Western Snowbird). It’s not a pejorative at all here; it’s only used enviously, by people who wish to hell they weren’t spending another winter in Alberta.
Depends on where you’re at. Federally, the minimum is $2.13/hr for tipped workers (and if you don’t make $7.25/hr with tips, the employer is supposed to make up the difference.) But some states have much higher minimums for tipped employees. California, for instance, has a minimum wage of $8.00/hr, regardless of whether you’re a tipped employee or not. Washington is $9.05/hr. Here’s a full run-down.
