Are we discussing the American convoy(s) in this thread now? I saw several articles today about the Southern California convoy to D.C. staging at Adelanto to begin their trek.
Adelanto?? Why Adelanto? It’s basically a tiny micro-community out in the Mojave Desert, a few miles outside of Victorville. I guess there’s plenty of open space around town where a lot of trucks can congregate. I googled some pictures of the place, and it basically just a few shops and houses out in the desert.

The route I had a glimpse of somewhere or other was taking I-40 across Arizona and New Mexico.
Well, that does make sense for this time of year; the route through Utah and Colorado can suck pretty bad in winter. I-40 goes east from Barstow across way less icy places.
The other thing about a place like Adelanto is it’s Trumpy. People tend to think of California as a very blue state, but it’s a huge place with distinct voting groups, and as close as Adelanto is to LA, it’s definitively in the Central Valley, which is farm country and deep red. That district went 2-to-1 for the Republican last year. So it’s friendlier territory, so to speak.
Mostly correct. Adelanto is adjacent to Victorville and I-15 goes from there mostly north-ish to Barstow, where it (a) continues north-east-ish to Las Vegas and beyond, and (b) meets I-40 which proceeds more directly east for a more sourthern route.
Adelanto is definitely not part of the Central Valley, it’s out in the Mojave Desert, but it is clearly a rural area and undoubtedly conservative and Trumpish.
I just saw an asshole in a pickup truck in a parking lot with two upside down Canada flags in the back.
I asked him why he was supporting Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Legal targets include not only the organizers, and not only the cash raised (now in escrow), but also anyone who participated (they have photo evidence, including license plate numbers), and anyone who donated to help this illegal occupation going.
I hope they succeed in recovering some of that money.

I’ve heard the New Zealand equivalent in Wellington had no trucks, but was basically just a bunch of people camping on the lawns and shitting in the bushes.
Oh, and at one point a bunch of them started to get sick, with coughing, congestion, fevers etc. Of course, they naturally blamed the government for beaming them with radiation. Not the fact that they all spread covid to each other. And they literally started wearing tin foil hats.
There is a massive pandemic of confused ignorant people out there.
I can’t see the government having much trouble towing trucks in Paris, Perth or Poland.
My brother has been posting non stop on LinkedIn (I had him blocked on all other platforms) about the atrocities committed against the heroic truckers in Canada, that this is what happens when socialists take over a country and brutally silence all dissent.
