A question to my Northern neighbors. I sometimes catch radio AM 800 in Windsor, when local host Lynn Martin is off they occasionally have a gentleman on by the name of Lowell Green. Who is he? I get the impression he is sort of a Canadian version of Rush Limbaugh, although as a Canadian much more rational. Is hea national Canadian host?
As I recall from the few months his show played in my town, Green(e) is a syndicated talk radio host. He’s not truly national, but the show is carried on several anglophone stations, mostly in Ontario, and mostly in major centres. Montreal has/had him as well.
He talks about, well, I can’t quite remember. But he’s strongly opinionated, in a Don Cherry kind of way. Which probably won’t help you either, I suppose- Cherry’s a Canadian sports commenter.
Anyway, his show was called “The Island of Sanity”, or something such.
And if you call him Lorne, he’ll hang up on you and play the theme to Lorne Green’s ecology TV show.
Operates right out of Ottawa on 580 AM, station called CFRA.
On in the mornings. Debates issues concerning the daily life of Canadians and allows callers to throw in their 2 cents. Was extremely against the Quebec Referendum.
Need more info, just ask.
I love Lowell! I listen to his program almost every day.
In addition to pointing out governmental waste that might otherwise be unknown to we in the general public, he also uses his program to do such things as raise awareness of the efforts of our war vets, such as the Merchant Navy that were not even recognized as veterans by our Liberal government, and thus inelligible for pensions.
Much talk on current events goes on as well, not just on Canadian topics, but many other as well.
