I have accidentally bookmarked a couple of threads- how do I take that away?
I can’t say I’ve ever really noticed that button, much less used it. However, when I click on it to bookmark this thread, it changes from “BOOKMARK” to “EDIT BOOKMARK” and has an option to delete it when you click on it.
You can also access your entire roster of bookmarks from the dropdown menu at the upper right under your avatar. The bookmark icon is the 5th one. Click that then the down arrow button at the bottom of the pop-up. That brings up a page with your whole roster of bookmarks. At the right of each bookmark is a […] icon. Click that to delete, edit, or pin the bookmark.
I’ve bookmarked about a dozen long-running threads that I keep returning to. I finally noticed that was easier than wiring up a fresh search for something about the title. For a long time I thought they were rather pointless. Now I rather like them, at least for that use case.
Thank you, that worked very well!
I’m going to have to play with this feature a bit more. One thing I’ve always wished we could do is temporarily ‘snooze’ notifications on a thread. For example, a TV show I watch has a new season out. I’m not going to get around to watching it for a while, but I still see notifications for that thread on a regular basis. I’d love to be able to say ‘don’t give me any notifications about this thread for X days’. Similarly, when a long thread is off on a tangent I’m not interested in, again, it be nice to tell discourse to pause the notifications for a few days.
I’m guessing/assuming that can be done with bookmarks. Based on nothing more than the options I saw when I was answering the OP, it seems like I could unsubscribe from a thread and use the bookmark feature to remind me about it at a later time.
Yep. Set the bell to “Normal” and add a bookmark with a custom reminder time (“More options” in the bookmark menu).

Good morning to you too, Sir. ![]()
No idea what the fuck happened there - I wasn’t even reading this thread. I was reading the English Royalty thread on my phone and somehow it jumped here when it was in my pocket, I guess.
Where I post a lot, keyboard smashes are common. So at first I read that as you being very excited about being able to have timed bookmarks.
It reminded me a bit of some arcane notation for a game or hobby. Like chess notation, bridge notation, or knitting notation. Which left me wondering, briefly, which pastime it might be.
I’ve been fortunate in that most of my butt posts to here or messaging apps tend to languish at the draft stage and are noticed before the fateful moment of butt-[Send]. Most.
