Yup. And posting deliberately inflammatory lies, on purpose to provoke an angry response that you can then complain is too “agitated” and “easily pissed off”, is trolling.
What do you find “ridiculous and hypocritical” about the parents’ actions here? And why do you identify them with “the woke left”? (Hmm … because they’re not anglo and white?)
They didn’t come for the Obamas. Some people expressed a preference for naming a school in their community after someone other than the Obamas. That’s not what coming after the Obamas looks like.
What does not coming after the Obamas look like to you? All schools must be renamed in honor of the Obamas no matter what the people in the community think of the Obamas?
It’d be nice if “six members of the Latinx community in the Waukegan Community Unit School District 60” were not suddenly regarded as the undisputed representatives of “the left”. It would also be nice if you and the raving redneck loon with a blog referenced in the OP did not try to ridiculously mischaracterize a simple vote on a school name as some kind of nefarious leftist plot.
It would also be nice if this board wasn’t overrun with group think where posters can slander 10s of millions of other fellow citizens as racists, bigots, Nazis, etc merely because of party affiliation. That sort of behavior happens all over this board and is rarely if ever shut down. Picking on the woke in the pit is at least a so-called safe space for now.
I think it’s pretty easy to repudiate the repugnant beliefs or actions of segments of your own party. I see liberals do it all the time – far more often than conservatives, particularly in the last Presidency.
What you’re (constantly, and in horribly disingenuous fashion) trying to do is get people to simply side with you in opposition to something they really don’t oppose – at least not on its surface, and not in all cases.
And that’s ignoring for the moment the ridiculous false equivalence between the harm that you think the “woke left” does and the real, profound, and lasting effects of the activities of “racists, bigots, Nazis, etc.”
I get that you’re trying to paint them as equivalent. It’s just asinine is all.
I imagine right wingers trying to understand this.
"So what’s the political advantage these activists get from protesting against Obama?
“None that we can see.”
“So they’re making money from it?”
“No, not as far as we can tell.”
“Is it a sex thing?”
"No.
“Okay, I don’t understand. What is motivating these people to do something that isn’t benefitting them?”
“I don’t know. But I did some googling and apparently there’s this thing called ‘principles’.”
“Principles? What are those?”
“I have no idea.”
