The M-16 question was answered.
As fior the rest…
The first GI Joe was General Joseph “GI Joe” Colton. In the comics, he appears as an older man with a brown crew-cut & a short brown beard. In other words, he’s the old 12" figure.
In the comics continuity, President Kennedy formed the first GI Joe team, consisting of about 11 or 12 operatives.
Miss Lace was a cartoon character created by Milton Caniff. She was a sexy brunette, with pre-Betty Page bangs. She appeared in Stars & Stripes, a magazine published by the US military for soldiers during WW2. Her comic strips have been re-printed in Trade Paperback form for years, and I highly recommend them.
DC’s Enemy Ace began in WW1, flying biplanes. He ended his career in WW2, flying the ME262. Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe / Sturmvogel
The German Jet.
Bonus Question–in what military service did Sergeant Gorilla serve? In what war? In What theatre?

Correct!
Time for question clean-up.
#5 is Captain Americat. As I recall, his costume had a star on the tip of its tail.
#6 is the villainous Ducktor Doom.
In the spirit of clean up: Sergeant Gorilla was an honorary member of the Marines. He was also a male, adult gorilla. WW2, Pacific theatre.
