CandidGamera's Comic Book Trivia

Oh, pfah. I haven’t been keeping up with most Marvel projects of late. Would this be the Thor : Vikings mini, perchance?

Nope. It’s an obscure little thing. I discovered it going through the $1 bin one day. There was a complete run. AFAIK, It had no ramifications outside of Thor, the Asgardians, and the Thor Corps.

Jay?

Armeggedon: Alien Agenda (someone just told me)

Carol Danver’s bed

Daily Star and his original editor was George Taylor

The first was Sandman. The second was either the Crimson Avenger or Hourman. I don’t remember my Sandman Mystery Theater well enough!

I think you’re mistaken. She wakes up in Carol Danver’s bed and thinks she’s Carol Danvers. She does things like try to hook up with Carol Danver’s old boyfriend.

Rogue, or the Carol Danvers spectre? Either way, I disagree. But I can see if that issue of Uncanny is convenient, then look it up, if you like.

Hm. Unfortunately, due to the size of my apartment, some of my comics still reside with my folks. And that apparently includes the lion’s share of my X-Men books. I’ll be heading down there in a week and a half, though, so I’ll try to remember to look it up. This site, however, indicates it was Rogue’s room that Rogue showed up in.

I’m pretty sure it was Rogue who was (for lack of a better word) “possessed” by the Carol Danvers specter.

IIRC (and I may not recall correctly-I loathed those issues), Rogue’s body wakes up in Carol Danvers bed. Rogue’s body thinks it’s Carol Danvers and her mannerisms and speech patterns (no phoney-sounding Southern accent—claremont never could write a believeable Southern accent, IMO), etc. There’s a beach scene (Carol’s house is on the beach somewhere, apparently) where Rogue’s body wanders, remembering hanging out there as a kid with Carol Danver’s father. At some point, she calls one of Carol’s boyfriends: Michael Rossi or whasshisname–the guy from Uncanny 97 who ran the space-platform where Jean got Phoenixed (Peter Corbeau?). The boyfriend bawls Rogue out saying “How dare you pretend to be Carol” and somehow Rogue is forced to believe that she’s really Rogue, not Carol.

I think. Now that I’ve posted, I’m not sure that I’m remembering a Siege Perilous issue after all. I know the issue happened but now I wonder if it was back around the #180s (when Storm was de-powered by Forge).

On preview: you’re right! Great cite! I have no idea what issue I’m remembering, but it is the apartment in Australia, not Carol Danver’s bedroom that she wakes up in after the Siege thing.
Examining the site you found, I was remembering issue #182. Nevermind!

As an aside, given that Roma is a cosmic level good guy and not one given to nasty pratical jokes, what the hell was the “Siege Perilous” crap all about anyway. Roma sez something like “You get to guard th’ thing and if you ever get sick of it, just go through the portal and it’ll take you to your “heart’s desire””. Um. Except that Peter became an amnesiac, vaguely femme, kinda sissified painter, Storm became an 11 year old, Dazzler became a superstar with a psycho-stalker, Rogue awakes depowered and with a psychotic undead Carol Danvers trying to snuff her and Betsy became the slave-bimbo of The Hand. These do not jibe with “heart’s desire”. Did they ever explain it or was it just Claremont writing himself into a corner (again) and hoping no-one would notice?

BTW: Were my other answers correct? :stuck_out_tongue:

Fenris

I’ll take two shots: was it Baldur the Brave or The Warriors Three?

Twas neither Baldur The Brave nor The Warriors Three.

You know, I missed this post entirely while researching the Carol Danvers issue.

Twasn’t Jay… The JSA returned in Armageddon : Inferno, but close! Daily Star is correct… and yes, Sandman is the other half of the first pair of masked vigilantes of the DCU … but most sources indicate the Crimson Avenger was first on the scene.

I believe the only unanswered Q I’ve asked that’s left for this round is :

#6) Who gave Impulse (now Kid Flash) his original costumed-identity name? [Not Wally, Not Jay]

So, time to add some more questions!

#21) Who killed the original Mr. Terrific?

#22) What is the team name of the X-men counterparts on planet Melmac?

#23) From the pages of the X-Men : What was Proteus’s vulnerability in his original appearance?

#24) Who is ‘the Master of Kung-Fu’?

#25) Who is the smallest and weakest of ‘the Metal Men’?

#26) Which DCU villain is a twisted parody of the Marvel U’s Reed Richards?

#27) Which speed enhancing drug made an appearance in the pages of The Flash?

#28) Which of Galactus’s Heralds was an artificial being?

#29) Which mystical land was tied to the origin of Iron Fist?

#30) Which DCU villain had a multicolored uniform and a helmet mounted with three lights that projected disorienting patterns?

#21 The Spirit Master
#22 The Melmutants? I have an issue and remember some of their names (Brogue, Nightcaller) but, I’m not sure of the team name.
#24 Shang Chi
#25 I’d say that would be Tin’s nameless girlfriend. After her, Tin himself is smallest and weakest.
#26 Hank Henshaw aka The Cyborg(not to be confused with Cyborg of the Titans)
#28 Two of his heralds have been artificial, the Asgardian made Destroyer, and the Airwalker Automaton made in the likeness of the original Airwalker, Gabriel Lan
#29 Kun Dun Lun? I know it’s close to that name.
#30 Crazy Quilt

Did Beta-Ray Bill have anything to do with this, by chance?

#21 Close, #22 Close, #24 Correct, #25 Tin was the sought-after answer. #26 Correct. #28 Well, you learn something new every day… not familiar with the Destroyer… Airwalker was the one I had in mind. #29 Close. #30 Correct!

#6 Max Mercury
#23 Metal. Colussus had to be the one to kill him because of this.

#23 Correct… #6 … nope, not Max either. Here’s a hint : The ‘Impulse’ name was suggested by a non-speedster.

#6) Who gave Impulse (now Kid Flash) his original costumed-identity name? [Not Wally, Not Jay]

The answer is Batman.

#21) Who killed the original Mr. Terrific?

The Spirit King, possessing the body of the Flash.

#22) What is the team name of the X-men counterparts on planet Melmac?

The Uncanned X-Melmen.

#27) Which speed enhancing drug made an appearance in the pages of The Flash?

Velocity-9.

#29) Which mystical land was tied to the origin of Iron Fist?

K’un-L’un.

Gamera, don’t give out the answers too quickly. Some of us don’t get to the dope on the weekends, and, had I been here earlier I could have told you it was Batman who named Impulse, during Zero Hour, and that it was the Spirit King who killed Mr. Terrific. I remember that JLA/JSA crossover.

Quickly? I last summarized the questions 11 days ago. The Batman question’s been there longer than that. But I’ll be happy to toss together another set of questions soon.

  1. Which Department of the Canadian Government did Alpha Flight work for?

  2. What’s Gotham City’s Baseball team?

  3. What is the predominant law-enforcement agency of 30th century DC Earth?

  4. What Los Angeles-based superteam did Warren Worthington found?

  5. What’s another name for the Suicide Squad?

  6. What was Cable-nemesis Stryfe’s organization?
