At our office holiday party, they served candied orange and lemon peels with coffee/tea/hot cocoa/mulled cider and my wife loved them. I want to get her some for Christmas. Any idea who sells them?
Try this place. Or for that matter, Amazon.
When I was a youth, we used to get them from Fanny May. Yum!
Thanks! You know, Amazon was my first stop. I don’t know why I didn’t find them. Maybe because I was searching for “rinds” instead of “peels.”
How did we ever survive without Amazon?
If you are the cooking type you can make these at home - I do this occasionally with left over orange peels I keep. Basically you just blanch the strips of peel and then simmer them in simple syrup for a few hours. Refrigerate (in the syrup) overnight, drain, roll in sugar.
It sounds a little time consuming, but its really takes care of itself once you get the syrup going. Its far, far cheaper than buying them, and you can brag that you made them too.
I found Torres’s recipe here (with the optional chocolate of course). Seems pretty much the same as the method I learned, though I’ve never done the chocolate dipping.
How about brick-and-mortar retail establishments? Who’s likely to carry these? I’d rather not mail order/wait/pay for shipping, etc.
