When Canada legalized cannabis sales, Toronto had a flurry of stores opening up with punny names on a scale only seen before with hair salons.

We don’t even have legal weed yet in NC, but the CBD stores are everywhere. I live pretty close to the Mari Fairy, for example.
A bunch of teachers and I were talking about the possibility of legalized cannabis and taxes on it paying for education, as has happened in some other states, and what we could call such an initiative. My contribution, based on a really stupid state law that was designed to (but doesn’t really) flunk third graders who didn’t pass an end-of-grade reading test: Weed to Achieve.
Pennsylvania has medical weed, but no recreational yet. Funny names are discouraged, because, um, medicine. But there is a tattoo shop I keep meaning to check out based on its name. The Tat Cave is either the best name ever or the worst.
Near me are Wonderland Smoke Shop, Magic Dragon Smoke & Hookah & Outta Control. The is also a Leafwell.
There’s a dispensary called Phog Center in Pacifica, a notoriously foggy location on the California coast.
We have a chain called Starbuds.
There’s a dispensary in San Francisco called Flower to the People.

In south east Portland there’s a “head shop” called Head East.
It’s been there since around 1970. It finally has been able to live up to its name since Oregon legalization.
