There’s a little icon that says I can Edit/Delete my posts. But when I try to do so, it won’t let me log in. I just keep getting the page that says I see the page I want to see because I’m not logged in.
Any help?

The editing and deleting of posts at the SDMB is a capability reserved for administrators and moderators.
Any chance, then, of changing the text at the bottom of the screen that says words to the effect of “Messages can be edited by their author”?
I understand the limitation, I guess it’s that statement more than anything that got me confused.
The deal with the text at the bottom of the page is, the stuff that’s enabled is in blue and underlined. Those words you’re referring to (“Messages can be edited by their author. Messages can be deleted by their author”) are not in blue and underlined, therefore they are not enabled.
HTML is also not enabled.
We’re all just used to it. You’ll get used to it, too.
That text is the standard vBulletin boilerplate, as I understand it. Yes, it COULD be fixed. However, right now, our techs have been working their fingers to the bone trying to get other stuff fixed, stuff that affects how the board works…or doesn’t work. That text is very low on the priorities right now. The board will run fine even if it never gets changed. But it is on the list.
In the meantime, I suggest that you make a habit of using the “Preview Reply” button. If you send it anyway, notify (by email) the moderator of the forum, and tell him/her which thread it’s in. A link would be nice, too.
Sometimes, if I come across an obvious coding error in the Pit, I’ll fix it without being asked. Depends on my mood. It’s very easy to type { instead of [, for instance.
