I’ve tried Google and I can’t find ANY information about this one anywhere! Apparently, my computer has a virus called TROJ_PRUTEC.D
What in the world is it and how the hell do I get rid of it? My anti-virus program (PC-Cillin) is usually fantastic of getting rid of/catching these things. Not this one, though! This one is the only problem I’ve had with it not being able to do anything. It says it couldn’t delete OR quarrantine it. What’s the deal?
Google TROJ PRUTEC.D or TROJ/PRUTEC.D rather than TROJ_PRUTEC.D and you should find som answers.
Thanks, **Caught@Work **!
Trend Micro’s online antivirus scan should be able to remove it.
Looks like it’s been around since April. How often do you update your antivirus definitions?
- How often do you update your antivirus definitions?*
2 or 3 times per day. The PC-cillin window always pops up 2 or 3 times per day and asks me if I want to update and I always click ‘yes’. I don’t know what the deal is. Thanks for the info.
I’ve GOT Trend Micro PC-cillin and it found the virus, but it can’t delete it, nor can I.
HouseCall didn’t find it at all.
Go figure.
Problem is ya got a trojan not a virus.
Even good anti-virus ware isn’t alway gonna deal with all malware.
Try some of these.

I have 7 or 8 malware/virus detector programs installed on my 'puter, and none of them gets everything!
Aaah. Ok. I see. Thank you, crowmanyclouds.
I’ve just spent 2 days cleaning a site (no, not the one at which I normally work). Some months ago another site, with 2000 PCs, got hit. It took our group days to get it clean, simply because of the scale of the problem. Viruses and other malware are a major pain and cause significant financial losses.
