Can't find "Flagpole Sitta" by Harvey Danger

My wife was working in the backyard the other day, listening to the radio and the song Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger came on. She asked me if I could find a copy of it online so I searched i-Tunes. Nada. Sure, I found versions by other artists but not the original. I tried Yahoo music and found the music video but not a download for the song. MSN Music linked me to a place where I could buy the EP. Amazon music had covers but not the original.

Can anyone help me find this freaking song online?

Send me a PM and I’ll help ya…

Here is a “lip dub” of it, which you will either find really fun & cool , or really stupid and pointless.

I love that video! Why can’t I work with people like that?

Yeah! Especially that girl at the beginning.

Shoot, I’ll send you my CD if you pay for postage–this is the last actual CD I bought and it’s the one which gave the name to the trend I refer to as “The Harvey Danger Syndrome.” THDS is when you hear one very catchy tune on the radio which snookers you into paying eighteen bucks for the CD, only to then find out that the REST of the goddamned thing is so craptastic you want to snap the fucking thing in half. I vowed after that day that I would never again purchase a new CD–and I have kept my word!

I am bewildered that the CD managed to garner quite a few positive reviews on Amazon, but hey–de gustibus non disputandem est and shit…

I prefer Weird Al’s (too short) polka version.

To be fair, that song alone is better than some whole cds I’ve bought.

Also, it may just be that the rest of the album is a different style that doesn’t appeal to you. I bought a Cake album back in the day just for “Going the Distance”, and was very disappointed in the rest of the album, which wasn’t at all similar. I actually returned it (this was in the days that you could return cds), but, later, grew to like Cake and bought the album again, this time for the rest of the songs.

Same thing happened to me. Wasn’t a fan of the songs on the first cd save for Flagpole Sitta and Carlotta Valdez ('cause it sounds a lot like Flagpole Sitta) but I thought the second cd was much, much better.

I don’t think it IS available online. I ended up buying the CD, my first in years, for that song.

Harvey Danger appears to not have bought into the mass distribution thing that way. I seem to recall that their most recent album is downloadable for free from their site and they make their money touring.

On AU iTunes I got a copy of it, no problems. It was part of the Scooby Doo soundtrack.

I know (slightly) one of the members of Harvey Danger, and I’m pretty sure these days they mostly make their money in their day jobs at Microsoft. They do maybe a couple of shows a year in Seattle and that’s about it for live performances.

Somehow it is on my I-Tunes playlist. Don’t ask me how.

Napster has it.

I’ve meet her. I actually did a photo shoot with her.

She doesn’t work at that company.
